I just got a CZ 550 Lux in 9.3x62mm from another member of this forum. It has that Euro style hogsback stock, irons, and the nice 23.6" barrel of the "American" sibling. The rifle came with Leupold rings to replace the really blocky CZ factory rings. This will be my dedicated elk rifle (and moose/caribou if I ever get to AK), and will probably also serve as a backup rifle for deer hunting (my 6.5x55mm CZ 550 American is now the primary for that job).

I'm trying to decide which scope to put on it. I'm thinking the typical 3-9x40 might be too long, and just not really look quite right. Besides, the ballistics of the 9.3 mean that 9x would be essentially wasted. Drop would just get excessive much past 300 yards, so 7x is probably still more than is strictly necessary. I'm open to suggestions for other power levels though.

I'm thinking pretty hard about the Burris 2-7x35 Fullfield II scope for ~$188 shipped from SWFA. That one has the German 3P#4 reticule that just seems appropriate for this rifle given the make and caliber.

But, what do you all think I should get. I might be able to tolerate spending a little more on the scope, but not too much.

I see nothing wrong with the Burris choice if you like it. I have this thing for the new Weaver 2x10x40s, but the Burris is a quality scope and there's no real use for the higher powers. I would get a 40mm or larger objective, though, for brightness in the dark tree lines.

I've used one of these for the last 10 years and have been thoroughly impressed, fantastic tough scope with decent clear optics. Can't beat it for the price. This one I can vouch for and want to put another one on another of my rifles to improve it. It has a Bushnell 4x12 adjustable objective range finder with the bullet drop thing on it now. Good scope, but the Weaver is a higher quality scope both in optics and mechanicals. The Bushnell has never messed up on me, but it's a little fuzzy around the edges of the field of view, especially at high power, which I don't like.

MCgunner - Thanks for the pointer. I'll take a closer look at that. I hadn't really thought that much about the Weavers.
