My Dad brought out some pistols last week for me to choose one to transfer to me. Which would you choose?

Colt 1911 Gold Cup with lots of mods
Browning High Power
S&W 686 stainless with four inch barrel
Ruger Redhawk in 44 Mag with six inch barrel

Choose the one you will shoot the most.

For me that would be the S&W, but everyone their own favorite genre of handguns to shoot.

I'm a revolver guy, and I know I would shoot the 357 more often than I would shoot the 44.

You can't go wrong! They are all great handguns!!!
I voted for the Colt 1911, my second choice would be the Redhawk.
This is only based on what I would like for my needs. I would use the Redhawk more than the Colt, but have never owned a Colt and would like a 1911 again.

I am not a revolver guy, but I consider the 686 to be the nicest looking handgun period, even compared to a 1911. They are one of the few that I like the feel and balance of, and hope to justify purchasing some day, so it got my vote.

Depends on what I already owned... If I didn't own any guns, I'd choose the 1911 or Browning. If I owned a semiauto handgun, but no medium to large frame revolvers, I'd go with the 686. If I did already own a K, L, or N sized revolver in 357, so I would choose the Ruger.

A couple pictures.

Gold Cup if it was me. Love 1911s. Though the 686 would be a close second with the Ruger a very close third. I'm not the biggest Browning fan, but it's still a nice handgun.

S&W 686 or BHP, depending on the individual gun and your preferences. Since it's a gift I would be less likely to make a choice based on the value.

I would have chosen the Gold Cup, but it's been modified, and you didn't specify how. So I voted the S&W 686.

1) I would go with the Colt Gold Cup as it would make for a super addition to my Colt family.

2) The Hi-Power would be my next choice as it's a favorite of mine.

3) I already have a very nice Model 686 but having another one would be great too!

4) The Redhawk is fine as well though I don't really have any need or use for a .44 Magnum.

Hands down, the Gold Cup. The HP is nice, the 686 nicest, but neither is up to the GC IMO. You know what they say opinions are like so pick the one YOU have the most interest in.

if you're going to shoot it, pick the one that simply feels better when you pick it up and point it. maybe also consider which cartridge you prefer - and how much you like recoil. If I was going to shoot it much, I'd go with the high power or the 686. Then you are just picking revolver vs. semi-auto. If I didn't have a few firearms already and I was new to it, I'd go with the revolver hands down. I think it can shoot 357 which has more punch for defensive purposes than 9mm, but for just target shooting you can run it with .38 special and shoot it all day.

Hard choice isn't it.

No sir, not at all. The Redhawk everyday and twice on Sunday..:D

I have to say that I am surprised that the Browning doesn’t have more votes. If I were an auto type of guy that would be my choice over…..well, over just about any auto.
