Which state is the "silencer" capital of the US?

Interesting. I wonder why California has such a high number of destructive devices. I wouldn't think these numbers would include the majority of suppliers to the movie industry, as I am sure most of that is done under the various types of FFLs.

It probably has more to do with the fact that CA has by far and away the most people. (38 million)

That is a very interesting link. Lots of info.

Divide the ATF state numbers by the 2012 population numbers gives some interesting results. I had to chuckle when I saw DC has one machinegun per every 145 residents. On the other hand, Idaho being a nice quiet state has one silencer per every 136 people.

My local talk radio station here in Austin, Tx runs ads constantly for a place in town called The Silencer Shop. I went in there one weekend to check it out and it was packed. Didn't even get to talk to anyone regarding their ability to make a "universal" model for bp.
...why would I want one for bp non-firearms? Every time I go to the outside range to make big boom, people come up to me and invariably interrupt me practicing reloading on the clock and ask what I'm shooting, be it Walker, Le Mat, #3rd Model Dragoon with shoulder stock, Baker Cavalry scattergun, or Smiths cavalry carbine. I stop and genially discuss bp with them since to most folks bp shooting is merely a quaint anachronistic hobby. Even without the boom, but still with clouds of smoke and a bit of fire they would likely still interrupt me, but anything might help.

I don't know about the stats, but my local talk radio station here in Austin, Tx runs ads constantly for a place in town that apparently sells only suppressors. I went in there one weekend to check it out and it was packed. Didn't even get to talk to anyone regarding their ability to make a "universal" model for bp non-firearms.
...and why would I want one for bp non-firearms? Simple answer- Every time I go to the outside range to make big boom, people come up to me and invariably interrupt me practicing reloading on the clock and ask what I'm shooting, be it Walker, Le Mat, #3rd Model Dragoon with shoulder stock, Baker Cavalry scattergun, Smiths cavalry carbine, etc. I stop and genially discuss bp with them since to most folks bp shooting for fun, CAS, and North/South reenactment is merely a quaint anachronistic hobby for us old guys. Even without the boom, but still with clouds of smoke and a bit of fire they will likely still interrupt me, but anything might help.

I'm in atx as well, I like that shop. Prefer The Gun Store in cedar park though.
Great stats by the way, had always wondered...
