Hey everybody.

I'm looking for a good ASP for additonal personal protection.

Preferably a length that I can conceal decently and a good pouch that I can wear it under my sweatshirt/jacket.

Here's a bunch of different sizes:

Anybody have a link for lower prices though?

Does a horizontal pouch exist that would run along my belt on my lower belt? I think this would be a great way to conceal it...

You don't need a pouch. I once fit a 31 inch asp down my wasteband without a problem. Just keep your belt tight and you'll be all set, regardless of the size. The cop who let me play with his ASP even told me that ASP reccomends carrying them IWB. Just be sure and check your local laws before you get one. Some states like Michigan make it a felony for anybody but a LEO to have one.

I think I prefer Monadnock Autolock batons. Despite claims that ASP batons are "easy to retract by pressing on a firm surface," if you swing the baton open hard enough (such as when under stress), you'll basically need a rubber mallet and a concrete floor. Monadnock Autolocks use a button to unlock the baton so it can close. Much easier, and despite the usual difficulty in closing ASPs, I'd have more confidence in a Monadnock not closing when used for jabs.

"...Not much law-wise on the net for ASPs..." Go to your State's web page and do a search for weapons laws or contact them. You'll want to know if it's legal to carry concealed too.

There isn't really any info on the web about laws pertaining to batons. The easiest thing to do is talk to your local DA. Thats how how I found out they are illegal in Michigan.

Many states do in fact list every law in their books right on the internet. If we knew which state was in question (thats what the profile button is for BTW) then we could actually help.

Findlaw and Alllaw both allow you to find your state legal code so that you can check the law on batons. Be sure to keyword "baton" then "club".

I carry a copy of the TN statute with my baton and my training certificate.
