I just sold my old (not-running pickup). I have the money to get one of the following. Which should I get?
A. Colt 1917 45 ACP revolver. The minuses are someone has refinished it in chrome with brass accents.
B. Taurus Tracker 45 ACP. The minuses are, no longer made and 5 shots.
C. Ruger Blackhawk 45 ACP/LC. The minuses are, no moonclips and can't use autorim.

If I wanted a good rough and tumble truck gun or a hiking gun, I'd go for the Taurus.

If you want a nice classic, then get the colt. It'll be a good shooter, probably. and yeah, undo the coatings. You can do a thread about it called "unpimp your colt"

The blackhawk is a good choice for an SA. But, it sounds like you don't like the idea of a Single Action.

sold a NIB Taurus .45 ACP Tracker this week-end at our shop, so
maybe Taurus still has a few of the moon clips lying around.

If not, you can get them at www.moonclips.com. Much better made than factory. A bit more expensive, though.

Oh and I think I'd go with the Taurus Tracker. I have one. I wouldn't want the Colt b/c of the pimping out.

Buy the Blackhawk & carry your 45 ACP's in a magazine. Auto rim brass isn't cheap but the ACP is. With pratice you can unload the BH & recharge very quickly plus you have a 45 Colt cylinder which makes this one of the best all round sixguns out there. Just my two..........Creeker
