This has probably been done already, but vote for your preference on a trigger for a Sig P220. Do you prefer the traditional Double-Action/Single-Action (DA/SA), the new Double-Action Kellerman (DAK) or perhaps the Single-Action Only (SAO)?

I've fired all three and see merits to them all. The DA/SA is classic, but a long first trigger. The DAK is a consistent trigger pull but a bit stiff and revolver-like in its travel. And the SAO is crisp but the safety can be a hassel in certain situations. If you were given a P220, which trigger would you request and why?

Thanks for the insight.

Don't forget the SRT trigger that comes on the Elite models. It has a shorter reset and faster trigger return than the standard DA/SA. Of course, I don't really consider it another "type" of trigger, just an improved or enhanced take on the classic DA/SA.

I'm with 10-Ring. You can master the DA first shot on a Sig with a little practice. If I want to carry in Condition 1 I'll grab a 1911.

The DAK is nice, but I have no problems with the DA/SA trigger either. This target was from a few weeks ago. I think it was something like 20 rounds, all fired single shot, DA. All it takes is practice. The gun was a P-220 and the picture was taken with my cell phone with the strong sun light coming from behind the target.

I have experience with all three. My preference for carry is DA/SA. My preference for steel plates is SAO. I could get used to the DAK for carry, but I've had DA/SA sigs for a long time and have gotten used to it. I haven't yet had a chance to shoot an Elite with the SRT (to busy selling them to keep them), but from what my customers have told me, they really like it.

The SRT reduced the reset between SA shots on the DA/SA Sigs by something like 60%. You can get the SRT added to any DA/SA P220.

I'd like to try the SAO, and own a DA/SA Sig and have shot the DAK Sig. Really it comes down to personal preference. If you take time to practice, you can be fast and accurate with any of them.

I voted SA. Since a P220 would be a range gun only for me, I'd want a crisp, short, lightweight trigger for target shooting. For carry or self defense, I'd go with with the DAK. Add me to the list of those who despise DA/SA.

SigArms will convert any of their DA/SA pistols to the SRT at the factory. I think the cost is about $100. I'm not sure of the turnaround time, none of my customers have done it.

I like the DA/SA. With reduced power springs, or a well-used gun, the Sig DA trigger can be very smooth. Can't stand the DAK. If I wanted a SAO range gun I'll probably reach for a nice 1911, although some of the Sig P220 Match guns look very impressive.

I voted for the DA/SA. My P220 wear a short trigger. I could never get use to the DAK and if I want a SAO I"ll get a 1911.

Da/Sa for me, thanks, I like being able to carry chambered & decocked and not need to work a safety, cock the hammer, just draw and squeeze the trigger.
Plus I know it won't fire if banged, bumped, dropped, squeezed or jostled. And I won't have to worry about the safety getting knocked into FIRE accidentally while moving around.
1911's don't do anything for me and having an external safety on a carry gun is something I do not subscribe to. The only reasonable safety is between my ears.

When I got around to buying a P220, I opted for the DA/SA. Have not put rounds through DAK trigger models, but did not care for it's feel in the gun store. SAO felt pretty good, but, like other people have said, I have 1911s if I want a single action trigger.

Since I wouldn't be carrying the P220 ever, I would go for the SAO. Otherwise I prefer the DAK trigger.

I have both a 220 & 226 DA/SA and a 220SAO. SAO is the best. I've also read that the SAO is better than the DAK. Now, the DA is too heavy, whereas the SA is just right.:)
