I think Cosmoline has the point spot on. There's no reason why we have to assume that American culture has to do with the race of some of the founding fathers.

I can trace family members that died making this country and fighting for it's freedom. Do you think that the average black can?

Yes. The average black american has ancestors who struggled through hard times and injustice to make America a place of racial equality, with more freedom for everyone. You, on the other hand, are trying to reverse the trend that your dead ancestors kicked off with the declaration of independence.

Actually, I think it somewhat embarrasing -- for you -- the intellectual mechanisms you go through to "support" your ideas. It is similar to Chomsky, except he can actually convince some people that night is day.

You are missing the point. White versus non-white is a false dilemma; The Irish are white, so are the slavs, and so are the english, yet the three are not all one happy community in history. Different individuals and groups at different times have alternately helped and destroyed. "Whites" generally do not behave like any one group, and at times you will find white people engaged in atrocities that are more fitting to the modern Sudan than they are to New York.

I'm agreeing with the claim that this mythical "white" civilization is purely that: mythical. There's no such civilization that can be characterized by color.

When people bring issues up, I don't associate them with other "groups" or "Classifications", I deal specifically with their point.

Okay, so why did you bring up Israel and try to associate the other posters with it? What possible connection did the Israel-Palestine conflict have to a discussion about you being a white supremacist?

Thats probably because I have a worthwhile education where I learned to do it, and the average self-hating white has about as much real education as a turnip.

If you paid for that education, you need to demand a refund. I'm sorry to be harsh, but you sir were cheated if you laid out a lot of money on an education that left you convinced of "the glory of the white races."

Look at South America and their method of government change (usually by murdering the previous leader).

South America is ruled by people of European descent. It's a European invention. It's probably the largest counter-example to your claims, also, but then there's eastern europe and russia and central asia....all whites, for the most part. There are even a good number of white people in Afghanistan. Some racial success rate there!

I don't know that it's "genetic" that whites seem to be able to produce working nations at a much higher rate than non-whites, but if you can't see it as truth, then you are either blind or addled.

Actually, at least the culture of government as the founding fathers intended it was strongly based on their ideas of the best parts of Greco-Roman culture. We borrowed the Roman mottoes and banner standards and the very idea of the Senate and such, and as for the Grecian influence, besides the works of philosophers...well, just look at the buildings in D.C.

That persisted in all levels of culture as well, well into this century.

For example, here's an ancient Roman red-brick insulae, or apartment building, as there were thousands and thousands of in Rome and other cities of the empire. Looks rather a LOT like late 19th century American styles, doesn't it? Even to the keystoned windows. They even had fast-food takeout places for people in apartments who didn't cook.

I agree that this thread has gotten loopy. We all know it's about values, not "skin."

The reason for the squabble here is simple: it has, unfortunately, become fashionable among the "elites," especially the educational elite, to go after America and whites, especially males, in particular. "The cancer of history" and all that jazz, as grande doyenne Susan Sontag once put it. If we're stigmatized, we're entitled to defend ourselves.
