I've got a NIB Smith & Wesson model 39-2 9m/m that the previous owner
admired soooooo much that he/she took a gold stenciling crayon and high-
lighted the S&W logo, model, and S/N. The weapon is UNFIRED, NIB with
all paperwork; and in the original dark blue (hinged) cardboard box. It has
been moved too "Safe Queen" status; and resides deeply in the rear of my
safe~!
holster wear shouldn't be an issue since the lacquer goes into the recesses that form the letters. I suppose you could have a problem if the engraving or stamping was very shallow. I've used lacquer sticks on a few of mine and they haven't worn off through use or cleaning.
