Whitney nipple size

I got an original Whitney Navy percussion revolver. Its in very good condition and the nipples are just fine. However, I would like to know what kind of threads they used on this one. The nipple itself is kind of "shorter" and a little wider than the Remington nipples.

Anybody in here with some information on this?

The threads on one of my Whitney nipples measured 1/4 X 20 if that helps. Nothing metric was close.
