I'm leading the wave of freedom loving, gun owning refugees from California to free states, in my case Texas. Decided to sell my house, take a new job (another IT geek, UNIX is my specialty, everything else is just work), uproot the wife and dogs (pit bull and GSD), and get back to living in the country (grew up in Nebraska/Colorado) after serving my ten years with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.

I'm almost 30, no kids (except aforementioned spoiled mutts), a beautiful wife, and zero debts (sell a tract house in California, buy 5 acres and a bigger house in Texas with money left over, think about it, my California comrades). I'm a blacksmithing hobbyist, decent welder, and novice brewer.

I shoot an M1A and a Savage 10FP .308 (amazing how much fun accurate guns are after years with a Mini-14 and an SKS) and I'm working on getting an AR-10.

Also, I've learned much from all you High Roaders, and feel like this is a real community, thank you all.

Who I am

I am a 67 year old retired guy who owns too many toys already, but that doesn't stop me when something catches my fancy. I spent 36 years on outside repairs in the vending trade. I was the guy they sent when your Juke Box or your pin ball machine didn't work.It was very interesting work, but it got harder and harder to get around due to Arthritis. I have been retired for 2 years and if I'm not playing golf I am out shooting. I belong to a nice gun club with 24/7 access with a good assortment of ranges. What a great country! JoeyT

Anybody bored enough to make some statistics outta this post?

Me, I'm 29 next week, married (to a mild anti), 2 month old kid at home. Living in Seattle, working an office job at a University, thinking about trying out for the Police Department this Spring.

Edited to add:
2nd business/hobby includes running a small prop weapons rental business and doing fight choreography/instruction for independent films and theatres. Fake guns outnumber real guns in my house, about 100 to 1. Perhaps someday that will change... or maybe the ratio will stay and the numbers will change...

About me

Didn't know so many computer people were interested in guns. Maybe the rest just put their money into guns, not computers.

66 in a few months, retired truck manufacturing troubleshooter and specs analyst, married 46 years next months to the same great lady. Two kids, one of each , grown, 6 grandkids, 3 of each, 3 by marriage.

Thinking of a part time job to buy guns, reloading and decorate a home. Don't hate getting older but hate not being able to do what I could when I was younger.

Blessings to all of the service people, both Military and LE.

Wow, I'm the third youngest person here at 17, of course I did sign up when I was 16. Right now I'm the assistant manager of the IT department at a medium sized telemarketing company. Currently single, but there is that nice girl at work who I think keeps checking me out...

Got 11 various rifles and pistols, which I think is pretty good for someone my age, although 3 of those are my dad's. Most recent purchase was a private sale from my neighbor, mint condition NHM-91, and now all my money is going into my M4gery. I'm somewhat of the resident gun nut in the circle of people I know, I've got a couple people lined up with AR-15 parts for me to work on, and the school security guard is getting my help in choosing a sidearm(for a differant job) and rig to carry it with. Sorry if that was a little long-winded, but I'm a bit proud of my hobby :D
