I am in the market for another 45acp, and I am thinking of the USP again.
If you carry an HK USP, how do you do it, what holster? I am interested in the full size, anyone carry full size? I am 6-1 and 230#.

USP45c. Bianchi IWB Clip. C&L

I'm short so the 45c is a better fit. I have carried a usp9 full size--which is almost as big as the 45. It was a little awkward, but managable. I carried a 229 for years and it was about the same. Can't go wrong with the H&K. Get some 12 round mags and you have an unbeatable 45.

USP45 full size.

Fist close-cropped pancake holster or Blade-Tech belt holster. The Fist conceals under an oversize T-shirt, if need be.

I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USPC and USPF in 40. Its either one or the other. I am considering to start carrying the USPF in 45 however also. Both are IWB.

USP40 compact IWB for me. It's a great carry gun! Relatively light weight and utterly reliable. If I could get my hands on a few normal capacity mags it would be perfect.

I don't know if I could do the fullsize carry. Might have to use an OWB holster for that.

:D

I sometimes did. I carried in a Bianchi pancake holster. I say did, because today I blew up my full size USP45. I stupidly bought some ammo at a gun show from what seemed to be a reputable dealer. He told me it was surplus military ammo, and I believed him. Today, the first shot using that ammo, the USP blows apart in my hand. Scared the hell out of me, and I thought my hand was broken. It hurt like hell. The gun was in pieces, but my hand seemed to be in one piece, and it felt better after an hour or so. I don't dare to tell my wife, she would freek out!:what: I doubt that HK is going to cover it under waranty, as it was obviously bad ammo.:(

gggman That sucks that why i dont buy ammo from gunshows seen a friends gun blow u... Do you have pics of the gun..and glad you werent hurt

gggman, sorry to hear that. I guess you were wearing eye protection at the time. Good move. Guess I will learn a lesson from you and never use anything but factory ammo or my own relaods in any of my guns.

I would post pictures, but I don't know how. The slide of the gun is intact, but the frame is broken right in half, and the magazine is blown apart as well. I feel very lucky, because I could have been killed or seriously injured. I may be out a few hundred bucks for the gun, but I'm still alive, so things could be a lot worse. Sorry Hot Brass, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

If you have the pictures, email them to me and I'll post them.

USPs are well built . . . . took a lot of powder to blow one up.

I'd certianly consider shoving the bits & pieces left of the gun up the ammo dudes &^%.

I carried a USP for a couple of years in a dillon "the master" holster. I had no problems.

gggman,

Send your USP back to HK. Even if you have to pay for a new frame, it's like $100 (i seem to recall).

There was definately not an obstruction in the barrell. I had just fired one magazine full of Fed. Hydra Shocks, and no problems. Then slapped in a mag of the gun show ammo, fired the first shot and the gun blew up. I have the case, and it's ruptured. Definately a case failure. Lesson learned. Never buy or use ammo of unknown origin. Not only did it hurt my hand, I felt a big blast of hot powder in my face. I'm very glad I was wearing eye protection.
I'll email the pictures to highland ranger so he can post them.
Tuesday I will call HK customer service and tell them what happened, and see what it will cost to repair the damage. Obviously I need a new frame and a new magazine. I've always heard how indestructable USP's are, I guess they do have their limits. I can't imagine what kind of a charge was in that case, but I won't be firing any more of them. I have 200 rounds of it, but I can't go back to the dealer. I have no idea who the dealer is. It was a cash transaction at a gun show, no paperwork. :cuss:

Let me assist with the pictures, here are the ones above
