Just had to gush a bit...

A few weeks ago I bought a Waffen Werks Bulgarian AK-74 with the plum stock and, oh, 12 magazines (8 Russian plum and 4 Bulgarian black) along with a few thousand (4400) milsurp 7n6 rounds. :D Will be ordering a few thousand more shortly.

I treated the rifle inside and out with Corrosion X before taking it out knowing I was going to only be shooting corrosive ammo. Ran 180 rounds through it at the range the other day and all worked flawlessly, not a hitch. I'm totally sold and in love. After shooting I squirted the whole thing down with a 9-1 mix of Ballistol and water, dried it, cleaned it out and re-lubed with more Corrosion X and put it away. It's still completely clean, like new actually, not a spot of anything on it. I have no fear of the corrosive stuff, as long as it's cleaned right and put through this routine I'm confident it will stay pretty much like new.

It shot great!! I zeroed it using the Russian method, set the rear sight to 1, zeroed at 25yds and dialed her in. What can I say, wow. I'm totally impressed with the 5.45x39mm and blown away by the lack of recoil with the 74 muzzle brake and find it just an absolute joy to shoot. The trigger is better than I expected too. Honestly, 3-4 guys at the range came up and were totally drooling over it. I'm really really happy I finally purchased one and glad I looked around and finally settled on the Waffen Werks. It's finished with the GunKote finish, has a G2 trigger, chrome barrel and a Nodak Spud receiver. It's an unissued all matching Bulgarian parts kit. Total quality in my opinion and actually just sexy as hell.

Definitely my "go to" rifle. I just can't believe it took me so long to finally spring and get one!

Anyone else love theirs as much as me?

Mines built by Lancaster. It had some problems with the rear trunnions and i sent it back . They redo and installed an original chromelined Bulgarian barrel. It shoots 3 inch grps at 100 yds with Russian surplus. Yeah , the 5.45 shoots like a boost up 22 magnum. Nice!

I couldn't be happier with my Russian Arsenal 74. I do regret not getting a sidefolder though. With a POSP scope it will do groups under 2" with 7n6. I generally spray mine down with window cleaner or soapy water, run a bore brush, spray with hose and follow up with CLP. After around 300 rounds i'll use a water based bore cleaner as well.

Sam1911,

Wow! I like yours too. Very Afghan war style except for the poly forearm. I'm not a big fan of the folding stocks but yours looks great. You actually inspired me to go out and get the canvas carry case, Russian milsurp model. Think I'll go ahead and get a bayonet too!

Here's mine.

Bulgarian plum stock...

Thanks! That's a Bulgarian AKS-74 kit built on a Nodakspud receiver. 2nd most accurate Kalashnikov I've actually gotten to play with.

Which was the first? Mine is a Bulgarian on the same receiver as well. All matching unissued parts kit with a chrome lined barrel and brake.

The same pal who helped me build this one has put together a large collection of them. He has one 7.62 milled receiver gun that will squeek past my AKS-74, off the bench. We shot a few 1.5" groups with it. (Both guns with iron sights.)

Russian Army still uses them vs the AK 47. AK 74 saw lots of action in Afghanistan in the 80s.
