+1 on LeMat Revolver. I still remember seeing one in the Smithsonian. I could not stop talking about it to my wife and parents. They had to drag me away from the display case. With only a few thousand made probably wont ever be able to find an original. Though I recently found a reproduction model that may someday fit the bill.

As others have stated........

.........there's always a Grail gun. I thought I was done when I finally got the Speed Six I wanted. When I got a blued one, a 2 3/4 Security came up in stainless, got it. Then a stainless Speed with a heavy barrel came up, was finally happy. The wife has the Security, gave the stepson the blued ( Boy was he happy!) and kept the stainless Speed for myself. Not hard to find mind you, just hard to get at a decent price.

Bought a FEG Hi Power clone. True SA, not their later S&W type models. Only bought it because I wanted a high cap something in the event of politics going the wrong way. This was long before the debate. Love it! Of course, now I want true Browning or FN. Again, not hard to find. Just want to get one on a construction workers wages in a bad economy. I keep watching Coles Distributing on GunBroker. And again saving my pennies.

My point is that there is always going to be something. My wants are easy and mundane except for one. I'd like to get my wife a High Standard Sentinel Mark IV in .22 mag with the three inch barrel. I know she would love it! But those suckers are always priced super high. There's one on GunBroker now for $500! C'mon, that's a $350 gun at best! Are they really that good or just that collectible? Never seen one less than $400 unless it was a hunk of rust. Bummer, perfect fit for her. Oh well, I'll keep searching.

I was lucky this year to have actually found and picked up two deals that I've wanted forever. I'm very much a Walther guy so these were much needed in my collection.

The first is the Walther P5 9mm. This one was made in 1993. I put the walnut grips on it as soon as I got it. Love this beauty.

The second, and this one is my TRUE grail gun, is a lovely little Walther PPK .32 made in 1938. I've longed and lusted for a real pre-war forever. Since I was a kid even, and finally ran across this at a price I could handle. I jumped on it. Of all the guns I own I really do list this little jewel right at the top. I still can't get over the fact that I actually OWN one now. And they only appreciate! Not that I'd ever sell it.

Found/gift Grails: Winchester Model 1886 in 38-56, inherited from my Grandfather, handed down to him from his Grandfather. More inherits: collection of Ithaca 37s in varying models and 12/20s, Rem. 552 Speedmaster, 700 ADL in '06 w/Timney and Nikon.

Cool Finds: S&W 12ga. riot gun, Br. M-1000 Eclipse in .300WM, Caspian Custom that P.O. had blinged out for IPSC, DW 5" fixed barrel .44Mag., S&W 1076, and an STI TargetMaster in .45.

They all have build differences and characters of their own. That Model 1886 just has a special feel though, between the real feel of hefty steel and the balance it somehow has along with the memories. The Grails seem to come along w/o my planning and have a recipe of: opportunity, timing, price-point, and a good story. Good times!
