I am curious how long it took for you to get yours. I am about a week away from the 75 business day mark and have not received it yet. I am wondering how long it took other people to receive one?

My permit was under 60 days I believe but that was around in 2005 so probably not very applicable to todays leadtime.

BTW, There is no such thing as an AZ non- resident permit. Thier permit is the same whether an AZ resident or not and nothing on the permit indicates residency or not.

My daughter is still waiting on hers and she is in month three. I just sent my paperwork in last week so I'm probably looking at October.

Covid is being used as an excuse for absolutely everything. Send them home to work . . yeah . . right.

I got one in 2016 when I lived in Oregon. I think it was about 6 weeks for mine to come in the mail.

DPS had most of the people assigned to the CCW division reassigned, so it's slow. If you need it to carry in Arizona...you don't, since we are a Constitutional Carry state. But, as stated, there is really no difference between resident and non, just the address on the plastic.

Thanks for the info and clarification. I’ll just keep waiting… as if I can do anything else :).
As Armoredman stated, a permit to carry concealed is not required in AZ for neither residents nor non-residents. However, if it makes you feel better to have one, by all means, get it. I just do not want you to feel unwelcome to be carrying here without it.
It is my understanding that the legislature here prefers the law abiding be on an equal footing with the criminal element where the possession and carry of weapons is concerned. We have nothing to fear from law abiding, armed citizens. Please note that the Liberal rantings of blood flowing in the streets and shootouts reminiscient of the Wild West have not happened here. That has only happened in gunphobia hotbeds like Chicago. :scrutiny:

My Missouri CCW permit is recognized in Arizona. I spend winters in AZ and carry there without restriction

Mine took about 3 weeks, before the pandemic.

I got a card because it makes buying a gun easier, takes about 10 min..

So, after waiting about 85 business days, I finally called. She checked something and then told me they would put it in the mail immediately. I guess everything had already been approved. IDK - maybe it fell under a table... Or maybe they are just really understaffed.

They are also good to hand with your license if you have a gun in your car during a traffic stop. It is a preliminary proof that you are probably not a felon.

The first thing a cop does in a traffic stop, even before approaching the vehicle is to check the license plate and registration. If it is not stolen and the registered owner is an ex-convict and felon, there will most likely be a flag as such.

That's funny, an ex LEO told me to do it.

Here in Michigan, a non-resident CCW isn’t recognized, and if I hand him my drivers license, it’s linked to my CPL.

Typically in metro Phoenix, if you are stopped for a traffic violation, the officer will ask if there is a gun in the car. According to state law, you must reply truthfully.
"Of course there is a gun in the car, officer! This IS Arizona!!"
If the officer asks to see your CCL, by all means, show him. It, too, shows up on the license plate & registration check.

Besides, it is the bad guys that are the problem, not the law abiding citizens.
