Thinking about getting one for my SP101.
I've done a search and read all the opinions about uncovered triggers, "Don't use them on a Glock", effects on the guns finish etc. so there's no need debate those subjects all over again.
I would like to hear from members that have used them and if they liked it or not.

I had one on my gun and soon decided on a traditional holster. Get a real holster. You'll be happier. Just my 2 cents.

My S&W 3" barrel Model 60 with Clipdraw mounted. Easy on and easy off and pretty stable on the belt. No complaints as to the quality of the carry. For what it is - it works quite well. Prefer a holster though.

I have 2

One on my G26 and one on my Smith 638. Like them both. The Glock is a tad thick, and any holster even with the thinnest material, just adds to that thickness.

I really like it on the 638.

clipdraw

my preferred method of carry. I have them on a S&W 1911, Taurus 24/7 pro, and Charles Daly Officer 1911. All work great especially the officer 1911.

I have them on a 642, 340, and my 1911's...plus i have the keltec version on my p3at...love them...plus the smaller guns fit down in my boot as a back up gun with no problem...:)

Here's a pic of one mounted on my G27. I put a little piece of tape on the slide under the end of the clipdraw to prevent finish wear.

I like it while I'm jogging with sweatpants or shorts without pockets. Just pull the drawstring tight or your pants will fall down. I have never had problems with it shifting or moving and it's way more comfortable than a clip-on holster.

I didn't know until this thread that they made them for J-Frames that would be even better for jogging pants or shorts without pockets.

I have Clipdraws on my S&W296 which is on my CCW and my S&W242. Neat to have a way to carry without a belt ect. Lately I got a Kydex paddle holster from Springbok Industries for the two humpback L frame snubs. The clip draw actually goes over the kydex without any interfearance and life is good:)

I used one on my Glock 26 when I first got my carry permit, but carrying without a bean in the pipe is stupid. So I bought a proper holster (Comp-Tac Undercover) and never looked back.

For a revolver I can see the utility, but for a Glock, not so much.

I've got one on my Kahr and the Kel-Tec version on my P3AT. Carried 'em that way for the last 3 years no problems. If I had to fuss with a holster instead of just jamming it in my pants I probably wouldn't carry 1/2 as much as I do. Plus I hate wearig belts :)

works for me......

regurgitating this from a similar question a few weeks ago...

I've carried the PT-111 for 9 months with a clip draw and here's my $.02...

clip draw is ......

1. surprisingly secure......meaning your not going to have your piece fall out on you and it doesn't shift position. I carry at ~4 o'clock with the clip on my pants and under my belt. I carry it low so the hand grip is right on the top of my pants, which helps stabilize it.

2. limits you to a straigh up and down cant....unless your going to mount it cock-eyed on the frame....which I can't see working.

3. allows some rotation, which I like, as I can easilly rock the gun forward if I have to sit in the car. It returns to verticle position when I stand up.

4. adds next to nothing to the thickness of the package being carried.

5. conceals very well for me....I usually were a cover garment (fleece vest, sweeter, sweatshirt, untucked polo shirt) but I can effectively tuck it under a dress shirt as well.

6. makes for easy transitions....into/out of car, house, office, etc....

7. makes for a handy draw, but a cumbersome return (can't really say re-holster). I use my off hand to pull the waist of my pants out and tight and then slip the clip over the taut edge.

8. is not going to protect the gun from your sweaty bod, or your bod from cold steel. I almost always were an undershirt (still uniform of the day) and my piece is stainless, so this doesn't bother me.

and for the big question......SAFETY!

MY PT-111 is the older DAO and I carry one in the pipe, with the manual safety on and under these conditions I feel my clip draw makes for a safe carry.

I do not think I would use it on a piece that has no manual safety. Even though I never have had any snagging issues while carrying. Mounting the clip draw with one in the pipe and no manual safety would present to much risk of a ND (right into my a$$) for me to accept.

As SSN says--

I use on a J frame regularly. Sometimes I have to feel to see if it is there. Also have on a Para Companion. That tends to walk my pants down-34 oz or more loaded-m and I need to cinch the belt tight.

I wear with shorts/t shirt while bicycle riding-2 t shirts if hot and sweating. One tucked in-one out to cover.

Can see where the Glockers could be concerned.

I have carrying my S&W 642 with a ClipDraw for the last year almost every day without a problem. My 642 with ClipDraw has retired my G27 as my primary carry piece. I can carry Mexican style, SOB, just behind/ in front of the hip. The 642 has very smooth transitions in and out of the waist band. The only gun I would carry is a heavy trigger revolver with a body guard or centennial style frames no exposed or bobbed hammers.

I have the issue clip on my Kel Tec P32 and thats pretty much all I use when I carry it. I'd add the warning that they are only as secure as the belt you use. I guess I'm not sure I'd like the clip thing so much on a larger gun but then again I've never tried it. On the P32 it puts the grip pretty much under the beltline making draw slow and somewhat difficult. I tried pocket carry with it and discovered that my magazine was getting released frequently. Plus I don't like having one of my two front pockets "occupied" so the beltline is where it goes.

I've got a belt clip (neither one being a feeding device  ) on my P-32. If i'm able to wear an untucked shirt, I do so with the grip over the edge of the belt to make it easier to get at. If I'm on a date or otherwise need to be wearing a tucked in shirt, I either tuck the grip in or (more likely) carry it in a wallet holster behind my actual wallet.

I have one on a Snubby .38 and found it OK for short time use but with long time carry I found that it irritated my body in the area of the gun. Having love handles, a spare tire or even bending to the side of the gun, the gun digs into your side uncomfortably, especially the hammer spur.

On something like a J-frame smith, I like them.

I had one on a 1911 a while back. I prefer a real holster when out and about in public, but for around the house carry (when I was too lazy to put my belt and holster on), it worked great.

I have one on one of my Taurus 85s
It works well for what it is, enhanced Mexican carry.

I use it to run to the store at night or for walks around the neighborhood, but just haven't developed the confidence in it to use it as daily carry.

I put it on when I was working a job that required me to go into secured buildings from time to time. I t was easy to remove the gun and leave it in the truck.

I hear a lot of complaints about uncovered triggers but I haven't noticed that.
I find that the clip forces the gun to sit with the cylinder at belt level leaving the trigger below the belt line

I carried a KelTec P40 with the KelTec clip for a couple of years. I liked it for the reasons SSN Vet listed. However, it did tend to wear holes in my pants, especially those I wore working outdoors that involved a lot of bending, reaching etc. Behind the desk, no problem. The P40 is now a car gun, and I carry a Kahr P9 IWB in a nylon Maverick holster from Dillon. I have some concerns about carrying a pistol w/o a manual safety except in a holster, although I didn't think much about it carrying the KelTec.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to order one and give it a try. I have holsters but thought the clipdraw might be a nice alternative.

I like the Kel-Tec version on the P-3at. The only complaint I have is that the draw is not very easy as the majority of the grip is below the top of the pants. However, it conceals wonderfully and can be worn with just about anything.

That being said. I like it because of the weight and size of the gun it’s paired with. Not sure I’d be so happy with it if the gun was heavier or larger (thicker).

Anyone who carries a Glock with one has more B**ls than Brains… well, maybe not for long. :what:
