I'm a 5'1" 105lb girl & I carry a RIA 1911 A1 .45 (full size) in a Galco Jackass shoulder holster rig which is my largest gun.I also carry my Sig P225/P6 9mm in a Fobus paddle holster on my right hip. Some days I carry both (usually in the winter) & other times I'll pick which ever one matches my outfit best.

I carry a 6 inch barrel 44 Magnun on weekends most times & most out in plain sight to promote open carry even though I have cc. My solution ( which is not for everyone ) I happen to like BIG loose hawaiin shirts, so I can conceal a VERY large hangun. It still leaves a bulge but most people asume it's a radio or somthing else.

It's always nice to find a woman who knows how to accessorize with style and your choice of handguns, especially the 1911, will add the finishing touch to whatever you wear!

If you're good with a handgun and given your EMS skills, you could have a TV show based on your experiences - you know... if you ever had to shoot someone, you could immediately save their life so the perp can stand trial and be executed formally. Sounds like prime time to me! LOL!

BTW, welcome to THR.....NoAlibi

I carry my Glock 20 IWB sometimes. The 20 carries better than my 29 and my 23 carries better than my 27. The extra barrel length make them sit just right.

NoAlibi thanks for the welcome.I like this forum & everyone is so nice.A tv show would be interesting.I know of several other medics & firefighters that also carry & some of the medics even wear kevlar because of the areas that they work in.Thank God I don't have to.
I do find that it is important that my gun match my outfit. It is very important to look fashionable at all times.

Some years ago I was an assistant to a Botanist Contractor for a Survey of Poplar Trees up in the remote mountains of rural Nevada, for the U.S. Forest Service, under the Department of the interior.

I carried a 7 inch 1912 production Colt New Service Revolver in .45 Long Colt, on my Hip, 'Open Carry', and a Box of Shells in my Back Pack, and a few Speed Loaders, charged, in my front pants pocket.

There'd been word about prior troubles with Biker Gangs, and other difficult sorts, so...

Never once occured to me to ask if this was alright with the Dept. of the Interior, or anyone else, and, no one ever said anything, so...

Had a very old Blanket-sided Zinc-Steel Canteen that held something around a gallon, and damn if that thing's Shoulder-Strap did not bother my Shoulder after a while.

I hate carrying things...especially on long, ten, fifteen, twenty mile walking forays on uneven terrain, in the high and arid Mountains.

Occasionally a 3 inch GP100 in a Galco IWB holster. It's a chunk but not too bad. Most of the time I carry a 6906 or a Glock 26 though.

my main carry gun is a full size S&W M&P in .40. Normally its IWB in a MTAC holster however occasionally I go with an OWB holster but I dont really have a good OWB that rides high enough for normal dress.

4inch S&W M66 Combat magnum .357mag in a Detective holster OWB, both where my grandfathers that he carried when he was a Seattle LEO

or my S&W Sigma 40VE Allied Forces in a Grandfather Oak IWB Kydex holster

There's always the Charter Bulldog if you want 44 SPL. Good solid piece.

One of the most underated utility revolvers every made , when I live where CCW permits were available I frequently carried one , wish I still had my last Charter ,should never have sold it,alternative to that was the three inch heavily modified Model 24 I still own or a full size 1911.

Open carry in the far north was most often a fullsize 7.5 RedHawk or 4 5/8 Blackhawk in .44 mag , lower 48 my much loved 6 inch Security Six or the aforementioned 1911 ( whichever 1911 I currently possess ar a given time).

And yes some will say that a 7.5 RedHawk is prohibitively heavy ,however up there if you're cutting wood etc. you can't have a rifle in hand at all times and if you run into a situation where you need it NOW then you need it NOW.

And I'll likely at some point by one of the new short Redhawks for such carry (mountain gun) , but my original Redhawk is one of the few sidearms ( along with the aforementioned Smith and the S'Six) that I've owned forever and that will stay forever.

Now I live where open carry is illegal and CCWs are virtually unobtainable , but not for much longer.

I completely agree with that. I had a Glock 26 that worked flawlessly and I shot very well, but I parted with it because it just didn't ride quite right no matter what holster I had. The extra barrel length balances the gun out and it just plain rides better.

I stick a SIG P-226 9mm in the front pocket of my Carhartts and let my tee shirt or a fleece pullover cover up the portion of the grip that stands proud. Sometimes I'll stuff a S&W 686 Plus, 2 1/2" barrel in the front pocket. It has a bit of girth, but using an Uncle Mike's holster breaks up the profile.

I carry a Government size 1911 in a Galco Royal Guard IWB holster. If I am not carrying the 1911, I will carry my Glock 21 in a Blade-tech Nano IWB. When I carry , I normally will wear a over shirt in order to conceal. Open carry is legal, I just dont like doing it because it attracts attention. I have never really been a fan of small guns for carry , although I can understand why some do.
