who likes to shoot alone?

I shoot alone because nobody wants to go shooting. I would like company sometimes, but everybody is so busy these days.

I shoot alone because I don't like to wait on anyone and I like to change my targets when I feel like it. I do not like shooting with many people or with people I don't know, but I'll take one or two people at a time to the range. My 10 yrold sister goes with me sometimes. Shooting alone is the best time to relax. I think I'll go tomorrow.

I enjoy shooting alone for the same reasons as everyone else:

1. Very relaxing.
2. Peace and quiet.
3. Nobody else around abusing the range or disrespecting range rules & regulations.
4. More focused and able to concentrate.
5. Able to practice drills I wouldn't otherwise be able to perform with others there.

Oh, how I'd LOVE to have my own private range. (Maybe someday I'll hit the lottery  ) Until then, it's me, by 1-bedroom apartment, and the 15-minuite drive to the local range in Dillsburg.

Apples and oranges. Shooting with friends=good social time.

Shooting alone=getting stuff done. Checking a new load, sighting in a scope, etc. Yes, shooting alone is relaxing and satisfying.

I go to the indoor range alone to evaluate new handgun reloads, go with the wife and son when she wants to blast away with the RAMI - stress relief. Works. My 4 year old loves the range, indoor or outdoor.

i like shooting with new people in the sense that i get to try new stuff, but you never know what kinda muzzle control they may/may not have... as long as everyone leaves with the 7/8 holes they were born with, it was a good day...

i hardly shoot alone anymore, i might do some long range stuff, or test a new load..

Hey 38, I think you said what alot of us are thinking. Especially the part about having your own private range.
Things were so much simpler when I could grab the rifle and a box of shells and walk outside to the "range" aka the back pasture. Even when I lived in a subdivision within city limits (edge of a small town), I could walk outside and be in the woods almost instantly, and shoot my pellet rifle without any worries from the neighbors.
One day I'm gonna live in the country again...

I shoot alone most of the time. I have a compact Jammit target stand that will easily fit in the trunk of my Gold Wing along with some cardboard for targets. Add a range bag with a few handguns and plenty of ammo and I'm on my way. I like shooting with friends sometimes when I'm in the mood for socializing, but if I feel like shooting, I'd rather go by myself.

Sometimes I like to shoot alone, and sometimes I like the company of friends, family, and decent range mates. During the nice weather I don’t get the range alone to myself very often. Sometimes I’ll get lucky, but not often. During the winter I almost always shoot alone.

The amount of time I can devote to shooting these days is limited.

I can either:

1. Concentrate on re-gaining my skills
2. Just plink and not think
3. Listen to guys talk about how crummy their jobs are

Easy choices.

When and if I have the time to try to shoot sub-MOA rifle groups, I don't want any interruption.

I much prefer shooting alone.

I have one friend who is good enough, and serious enough, that I enjoy shooting with him. Unfortunately, he lives in another state and we get to shoot together only once a year or so ... or even less. Last time was almost two years ago.

I prefer to shoot alone, as I prefer to hunt alone. Shooting solo, I can practice things I would not with others there. (Clearing jams, weak hand/offhand drills, etc.) Next I like shooting with my family. My Dad just visited, and he, I and my two sons went out back and shot. My kids had almost as much fun as Dad and I did. ;) I however do particularly enjoy teaching new shooters, and sometimes the occasional 'blamfest' with friends is fun, also. I hosted a small shoot last summer and had a blast (pun intended) doing it, might repeat it this year if possible. The only drawback was I didn't get to shoot as much as I would have liked.
I do have my own private range, a small sandpit on my father-in-laws farm, a couple miles from the house in town I will be moving to in three weeks. Sure will miss living on a farm, and being able to walk out the back door and shoot. :(

If I bring the dog, does it still count as being alone? :)

It's fine going with friends but there's nothing like the times I just take off to the middle of nowhere with me, the dog, a few guns and my thoughts. Sometimes I almost forget to even shoot. :D

I don't like shooting alone. I enjoy shooting mostly with my girlfriend. In the off-chance that she doesn't go with me, I shoot with her dad. For me, a good time is best had with family and friends. Sure, sometimes I might go off by myself, but there's just something about looking up and seeing the girl you love sitting behind a Savage .223 and kicking my butt that makes me smile.

I like shooting pistol competition. It's comraderie.
I like taking my family & friends plinking. When they're having fun it gives me joy.
For personal satisfaction, I shoot alone. Nobody to bother me, I usually end up thinking more than I shoot.

I shoot alone quite a bit. Like to shoot with others at time but I am damned picky about who I shoot with. I know a lot of pretty nice people otherwise that do some pretty foolish things when it comes to guns and some of them have been shooting for years.
