Who makes a .44 Special revolver?

I think you can still order a Colt Single Action Army in 44 special but you may have to wait a while to get it.

No pics, but the Freedom Arms 97 in 44 special (5.5" bbl) is my favorite handgun to date. It's not cheap but the balance, weight and build quality are unsurpassed. I'd wager you could easily load it to exceed 44mag pressures but why would you?--it's simply perfect with heavy 44 spl loads (1300fps, 255gr and 1220fps, 300gr loads).

If you want something more portable the M97 in 4.25" bbl w/ the round butt could be more ideal.

I feel the same way. I've only had my FA model 97 for about a year. I keep meaning to do a range report/ review on mine. Just waiting for work to slow down. But it is a true piece of beauty. But also undeniably rugged. Like ExMachina said, you can load it up as hot as you want. But that's not what the 44 Special is about. Yes a freedom arms revolver is expensive, but it will last several lifetimes. It is so accurate it is almost laughable. And the quality of craftsmanship cannot be beat by another production revolver.
