Here's a CZ75b FIST holster on the left, the Makarov Don Hume JIT on the right. The belt is a Wilderness 5-stitch w/insert.

I've drawn arrows to point out something. On the right (Mak) the belt passes through the belt loops without any tension on the holster or gun.

But notice the bulge on the FIST holster. The belt is actually pressing hard against the holster.

Here's another view looking down.

See how the belt passes through the right holster. This holster carries the gun -- the belt loops only hold it on.

But on the holster on the left, the belt and loop positions cause tension, and can become very uncomfortable. Notice how the gun in the FIST holster is really carried inside the belt line, while on the Mak holster, the gun is carried "Outside" the belt line.

To carry the Mak on a straight line loop holster, I only need tighten my belt to hold the weight of the gun. But with the FIST holster, to tighten the holster tight enough causes the holster to press uncomfortably against me.

The FIST holster is well-made, good retention, but after 4 hours it's hurting my side, regardless of belt. That tension is expressed by the holster pressing like the devil in your side. I don't like that.

I'm 5'11, 185 lbs, normal size and shape, so it's not like I'm Jabba the Hutt.

I have a old no-name old 1970's slide that I'm adapting for my CZ97B. The belt loops through the back of the holster merely to hold the holster to the belt. Your body doesn't feel the tension because there is none.

I'm looking for straight loops on holster from now on. Many holster designs are done for the sake of design, not for the practicality and comfort of the ultimate user.

I suspect this is a problem for many who carry OWB. The holster feels good for a few hours, but after a while, it's digging in your side. And a holster that's uncomfortable goes in the "old holster" box. Then you buy another one and the same thing happens.

So, if there's a holster maker that makes holsters like I want, rather than what they want to make and sell, please point me in that direction.

Steve
