Who owns a PCC

Image.jpeg

Holy Hijack, Batman! I came back to post this pic of the Henry Homesteader. Are Fuddish guns still allowed in this thread? 😜

PS. I used to own a small collection of NFA firearms. Yes, they are interesting, fun and legitimate. And also are a pain in the rear end and expensive. Got rid of 90% of them when I moved. Honestly, there are bigger battles to fight post-Bruen, than "Marching for Machine Guns". The NFA is dead last on a long list of other infringements that affect more people, every day. How about:

mandatory firearms registration,
outright bans of commonly used firearms,
owner licensing for possession or purchase of varying firearms,
red flag laws,
restrictions on carrying for self-defense in public places,
magazine capacity limits,
purchase waiting periods

It's nice to live in an NFA-friendly state and want more toys, but that's not where the crux of the problems lie, nor where the limited resources available to challenge unconstitutional laws would be most effective.

I have the parts to assemble a complete colt mag fed, 16" AR9 rifle.

I *think* I'm gonna sell the barrel and lower, and rebuild it with a 3" barrel and run it off endo mags on a regular pistol (or SBR depending how things go down in the 5th circuit) lower.

Alot of 115gr will be subsonic out of the 3" barrel, and I've got a spare quad rail my can fits nicely inside for a MP5SD kinda look.

Well I think i made my choice. I can get the S&W Response with 3 mags for $699. I handled it today as well as a S&W FCP and while the FCP is cool cause it closes and a little more compact i felt like the controls on the response were better and it fit me pretty well. I get my work bonus Jan 31 so i will be picking one up then.

I have a palmetto px9 and love shooting it! The only gripe I have with it is no lrbho but other than that, a great gun! I got the 10.5” upper and suppressed, it’s the perfect length for me. I am considering buying a aero precision epc upper to have the lrbho feature but the lower is very well built and uses a ar15 fire control group so easily upgradable. I added a kvp BCG and buffer with 308 spring which smoothed out the recoil a lot! I like the ar style platform because of the customization potential and familiarity. Get one, you will be glad you did!!👍

I own a 16" foxtrot mike 9 upper and a keltec sub 2k and can easily stay well within a 6 inch splatter target at 50 with either. Maybe 3-4 inch groups. I don't seem to process the recoil the way everybody else does, they're extremely controllable for me.

Good move with the response if you don't need/want to carry the thing concealed in a small bag.

I have a huge pile of Glock magazines so I do Glock fed PCCs. It has caused me to miss out on some high end 45$ proprietary magazine wonders that everyone raves about but Oh well.

I still contemplate buying an Extar EP9 AR PCC.
The $449 price is hard to beat.

I can't help you with those as I have a couple of the original. Before PCC was even a term. a 357 lever marlin, and a marlin "camp 9".

Both are huge fun to shoot. And yes much more inexpensive then a "real" rifle cartridge.

Sorry I can't be more help, but I think you are going to find people say they are one of the most fun guns that they own.
Maybe the M-1 Carbine was the original PCC.

It was designed to replace the 1911 with a more accurate gun, but still lighter than a full on battle rifle.

Since the M-1 Carbine used a new intermediate round specifically designed for it, it does not qualify as a PCC. I read some S&W N-frames were chambered for it during WWII, muzzle blast and recoil were unacceptable .
A fantasy gun for me is a PCC w/interchangeable barrels for 9MMP/38 Super, using M1911 magazines perhaps one in 45ACP/45 Winchester Magnum.
I have a Spanish Destroyer Carbine (haven't fired it yet) in 9MM Largo. That takes its own magazines.

I usually think of certain submachine guns to be the orginal PCCs. Like a Thompson M1 with a stick mag.

I wouldn't call the .30M1 an intermediate cartridge. It uses pistol powder and has more in common with revolver magnums than anything else. It fits the Blackhawk, it's a pistol cartridge, even if it was born in a rifle.

Although Ruger made some single actions in that cartridge, I understand they are also considered a little over the top in the noise dept.

I had a Just Right Carbine that I ended up giving to my son, currently have a Mcarbo version of the Sub 2000. The JR Carbine is a good shooter. The Kel Tec is much lighter and handier. I can't speak to the deficiencies the other posters pointed out as the Mcarbo version has corrected them.

Homesteader is very nice, but it collects scratches like crazy. I wish it either had a shellac finish like my BLR, or had a budget birch stock like on my old Mini-14. The receiver takes scratches too.

They're loud but not as bad as the Automag III. It's a combination of the tall, narrow column of slow burning powder (birthplace of H110), pressure and the relatively small bore.

There's the original PCC cartridge-the 22RF in its various manifestations.
IIRC "pistol" calibers were first introduced in long arms-the Winchester 73, e.g., then the handgun makers-Colt-started to produce revolvers chambered for them.
