Just two minutes from sanity.
A while back, I bought my wife a 10/22. It was experiencing some ejection problems. I polished the extractor and lock-tighted the ejector, which reduced_but didn't eliminate_ the problem. A bit of research indicated that a recoil buffer might solve the problem. Shopping around, I found that 10/22 recoil buffers are just a polymer replacement for the bolt stop pin. Ad copy showed some are made from delrin, some are made from urethane, and some are just identified as polymer. They start at around $10 plus postage.
I'm cheap, but I'm not easy. Ruger being Ruger, I suspected the bolt stop pin would be a standard diameter. Sure enough, .25 inch. Delrin rod is available in .25 inch. I purchased from TAP Plastic who have a minimum order of 8 feet for $4 plus postage. I cut a piece to length and tapped it into place in the receiver. 10/22 now runs like a charm.
I still have over 7.5 feet of delrin rod. Who wants some?

'Kay, guys, here's how I'll do this: Opt in by posting to this thread, then pm me your address. I'll mail you a piece of the delrin and, when you get it, you can mail me a buck to help defray postage costs. I like y'all, but I'm not spending beer money to make your 10/22 run better! I'll request a lock on the thread when I'm either out of rod or broke from postage.

I'd love to try this out as well. If you have any left I'd be happy to pay for your time and postage.

Okay, guys...I'll be mailing each of you who pm'ed me a piece of rod about 6 or 7 inches long. That's enough to make several buffers if you do it right, or screw up a few if you do it wrong. All you need to do is drive out your bolt stop pin and cut a piece of delrin to the same length. Tap it into place and you're done. If it's a little over long you can trim it flush with a razor knife. Good luck guys!
