With the work the Right Wingers have been pulling in the last several years ignoring our constitutional rights in the name of terrorism in order to get us to give up some of our liberties in the name of safety?

Or is it the Left Wingers telling us that we are destroying the planet with our greenhouse emissions and imposing stricter and stricter controls over us so that they can place more controls on us and tax us into oblivion all in the name of "saving the planet."

Both sides have weak arguments that don't have "factual" data to support their claims. The numbers don't add up. We have made terrorism worse by moving out a dictator that the conflicting tribes of Iraq already hated, just so a Right Wing agenda can be pursued that is really just eroding at our personal freedoms, while keeping us distracted thinking they are really trying to help us.

Or, is it the Al Gore crowd who is not interested in providing "factual" data about our relative CO2 emissions and is ignoring the fact that global warming is the result of the sun's energy fluctuation, not greenhouse gas emission. Volcanoes, rotting vegetation and mainly the ocean produce far more greenhouse gas emissions than the industrialized world, by a factor of about 200. Greenhouse gas is not increasing in the Troposphere dramatically, but that doesn't buy votes. 30 years ago, they were panicking that an Ice Age was coming, now, the ice is melting.

Either way, good science and policy is not being followed by either side. To me, it's all a guise to control and manipulate the common folk into supporting one side or the other while each side meets for golf on Saturdays to discuss how many followers beleive in their cause when both causes are bullsh** propoganda tricks to further enslave us as Americans. They both want to take our guns out of our hands, they just can't ask for them directly. Stripping us of our guns is not their ultimate agenda, but it's on both of their list to further their own causes.

So which do you think will actively grab them first?

Me, due to current democratic proposals, will vote for the Democrats as those who want to strip us of our freedoms to bear arms the quickest. But on the other hand, I don't really think the Republicans would mind that much either, particularly our current administration.

Let the police state begin.

I think that it will be a mixture of both parties. The government seems hell bent on taking our rights away. And members of both parties seem to be supporting them. It doesnt matter which party in the end except that we will not have the freedoms we cherish.

Something to think about.

Did you ever give serious thought as to why our "fearless" non-leaders want to disarm the population?

Read "The Federalist Papers" and you will learn. I will give you a hint, it's not about hunting.

fineredmist... We ALL know who and why, now don't we? We also have pretty good ideas on how. Real question is When, Where and What? (OK - three questions)

I personally don't see it happeneing nationwide due to the vigilence of a few good men and women, that pesky Bill of Rights thing, the number of firearms already in legal possession and this nations historic bent to do the right thing... eventually... but then again, this is a nation that once outlawed the evil cereal malt beverage, beer.

It all depends on how "reasonable" we are willing to be - you can recognize "reasonable" people as they walk oddly with the pool cue sticking out their butts. That is the tact they will take with us bann the evil black rifles and tax the hell out of anything they can get away with "for the children" and if you oppose what they what you will be labeled an unreasonable exteremeist. The most encouraging thing to come come the pike in recent years are alll of the states passing CCW laws and the state level is probably an area we need to concentrate upon. It may have to be the states who stand, if we will stand with them and back them, against the feds. There is a lot of crap looming on the horizon like the North American Union with it's Amero currency, BAD supreme court rullings that say your home or business is only yours as long as nobody else will pay more taxes and boneheads like Newt calling for restrictions on free speech - any or all of which coule result in a civil war. The best thing any of us can do is get as many QUALITY new shooters (especially handgun) into our ranks. The reason I stress quality is we need decent intelligent people who will improve our image as gun owners not drunken Bubbas. We will very likley lose no matter what we do but if we resolve NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT we will improve our chances dramatically

Our” leaders” are afraid that we will take Abraham Lincoln at his word and take back a government that no longer serves the people “by force of arms if necessary”. In short they are afraid of the general population holding “.30 caliber elections”.

I think, as things stand right now, the ones most likely to be coming after our guns in confiscation will be wearing blue helmets.

Things may change in 10 or 20 years, but right now most gun grabbers are content with erroding away at our rights slowly. It draws much less attention that way.

You have it wrong. The way they will get rid of the guns is this:

first demonize them - make them scarey - use media

second - make buying a gun and possessing a gun harder and more expensive and more difficult - add regulation and more hoops to jump through

third - make it illegal for individuals found guilty of an ever expanding list of crimes that include misdemanors to ever own a firearm.

four - pass laws banning new firearms of a certain type

five - require registration of said firearms

six - pass a complete ban on above said firearms

seven - make an example of a few selected individuals - wait until the time is right - they are at work or asleep in their beds, or at their kids little league game.

repeat steps one through seven as many times necessary over decades.

Eventually guns will be equated with evil and illegal and expensive - and fewer and fewer people will own them and the old non-registered guns will be turned in in amnesties by the their former owners widows for six flag tickets for the grandkids.

There will be no glorious resistance or even any desperate one doomed to fail - there will be none at all - as time is on the governemnts side and they will slowly and effectively indoctrinate and acclimatize the citizens into good little .gov/corporate drones.

Who Gets 'Em First?

If I don't get to live to pass them on, it'll be whomever kills me first.

Woody

Look at your rights and freedoms as what would be required to survive and be free as if there were no government. If that doesn't convince you to take a stand and protect your inalienable rights and freedoms, nothing will. If that doesn't convince you to maintain your personal sovereignty, you are already someone else's subject. If you don't secure your rights and freedoms to maintain your personal sovereignty now, it'll be too late to come to me for help when they come for you. I will already be dead because I had to stand alone. B.E.Wood

Sounds like we're already there with automatic weapons and no one got to yell molon labe to the gun confiscation wagon as they turn their gun on the authorities.

Its a slow process.

The erosions of individual rights is not a sudden, here it is deal. Powerful people, looking for even more, chip away until the final step is within reach. This is why the NRA, (I am not a fan) fights every little thing. While you all sit around bemoaning those demon Democrats, (I am one, 10 guns), the biggest single step taken to date would be the Patriot Act. Republican prez and congress. And wherefrom did we get the Brady bill? It's not the gun control crowd that is our biggest concern, but the individual rights control crowd. Bush and company have gotten us far closer to losing our guns than any left wingers have.

Niether

I've made my mind up to uphold the 2 nd to the bitter end. Our unalienable rights were given to us by the creator, not by any government. Mack, we could turn the tables and ban gun grabbing politicians, and their tactics so they would on the defensive, not us. Let's make examples of the people who try to take our rights and freedom. Let's demonize them.

???

And how has Bush done that? If you are going to make a statement like that you would be best armed with facts that support your opinion, please.

Bush and company have gotten us far closer to losing our guns than any left wingers have.

Both parties do a great job protecting Govt powers. When was the last time either party has talked about Individual Liberty?....at the expense of the scope and growth of Govt?....really.....and then walked the walk?

Republicans do not tend to introduce anti firearm ownership legislation.

Democrats tend to ALWAYS introduce anti firearm ownership legislation - whenever they gain control. Even if it's taking control of Congress because people voted for "conservative" Democrats.

If you are a stauch Democrat and you want to protect firearm ownership, change your Party, don't try to change me.

Ethereal, if you don't think the Patriot Act has taken a serious toll on your freedoms, perhaps you should go READ it. It is far more reaching than pulling your gun from you. And to Readyontheright, yes, it is Democrats that introduce gun control legislation. Liberal Democrats, which we are all not. Therein lies your problem, you blanket us all, us and them, with us or against us. It's a loser's mentality. Make alliances where you can and quit name calling and bashing everyone who labels himself a Democrat as anti gun. There is a lot more to my politics than gun control. Force me to pick a camp and you lose, and I vote. I don't care if your candidate is against gun control, if I disagree with him on every other issue. Stop tossing far right bigoted wackos up as Republican candidates for starters. The last election sent you a strong message. Either get it or it will get tougher. The NRA, which needs desperately to be mainstream, cannot be so as long as they would back Hitler if he claimed to be against gun control. You all spend a lot of air bashing the cops, (remember those jack booted thugs?) while acting like the Randy Weavers are normal. Get real.

Lets see. The Republicans were in control from 1994 to 2006. How many gun control bills did they introduce? The Democrats have been in control since January and have already proposed gun control legislation. You can do the math.

Global warming is an enormous problem, and those that claim it isn't are either misinformed, or full of horse ****. But please, nobody take my word for it. Seek out the studies of legit scientists, and not flunkies on fox news, or for that matter any TV show. 98% of all studies on global warming by reputable scientists show that global warming is very real and a huge, ever growning problem.

And again, please don't anybody take my word for it, or Al Gore's word. Do your own reasearch. The truth is disturbing.
