So I bought a LCP with a factory installed Crimson Trace laserguard. Picked it up from the FFL Thursday and went out to shoot it this morning. After two shots the laser would not work; the left side plastic piece, the battery, and the little bitty screws had fallen out! I looked and looked but could not find one of the screws (even assuming it came with two). Disappointed, I took the laserguard completely off and shot another 98 rounds....

So now I guess I will call Crimson Trace and/or Ruger to see about getting some replacement screws. I guess locktite might be a good idea?

I had a problem with a Crimson trace laser on my Kahr CW9. I called Crimson Trace and they sent me a new laser. They also sent me a self addressed stamped envelope to return the faulty one back to the factory. No questions asked and a very fast turnaround.

If I got a Ruger LCP (a nice quality firearm) I think the laser is a waste of money.
Such a weapon will be used in a range of less than 10 feet. The LCP is quite an accurate weapon as it stands without the laser. I think the laser was added as a marketing strategy which bumped up the price of the LCP.
Not interested.

I'd notify Ruger first as they most probably installed the sight on the pistol. If you are referred to Crimson Trace, they can be relied upon to make it good too.

Do the screws thread into plastic? If so, then don't use Loctite, it can attack some plastics.

WOW the relevance

i say call CT and have them send a new one like suggested above

The Ruger LCP is accurate, and such a handgun is to be used in engagements of less than 10 feet. Field accuracy testing relating to the Ruger LCP shows that a laser is not needed.
Get a nice pistol for a nice price without the extra cost of the laser.
Dimis, don't understand your point; I'm just voicing true information relating the the accuracy of the Ruger LCP at close range. Who needs a laser?

@ shootingthebreeze

I believe Dimis post was your 1st reply did not answer what the OP asked. He asked for no opinion on the CT laser, but who he should contact to get it resolved.....I wouldnt take any offense to it.

Ruger sold it, and made most of the profit off it, so call Ruger to get warranty replacement.

I would not think Crimson Trace should be left holding the bag until Ruger tells you otherwise. They sold a boat load of laser grips to Ruger at wholesale bulk price.

Ruger made most of the money to be made, and they should be the ones to fix or replace it.

Whatever your ability, skill level, and preference, that is your decision. As for me, I can hit reliably at 50 feet with my CT equipped LCP, without it, well it shoots like a pistol with a 1.5"barrel for me on open sights. I didn't buy mine already together, but the CT was well worth the $169 I paid for it to me.

After seeing a LCP with the CT, that's the way I would buy it. I was wanting a LCP, but after getting a LC9 I had thought otherwise after shooting the LCP with its fixed, barely noticable sites. It is a preference as I don't shoot close range so I was thinking the CT would be a nice feature to have on the LCP and buying it from Ruger already installed seems to be a decent savings over buying them seperate.

I love my LCP w/CT!

Sounds like you are tying to justify to yourself not having one shootingthebreeze. Do what you want, but they ARE a major upgrade to such a small gun with no sights...

BTW- I would call CT. It is their product and you will probably get it resolved faster than through Ruger.
