Just bought some .223 from Cabela's. We have a local store here. Best price on the Wolf 62gr FMJ I could find, online, or brick & mortar. I've also bought 9mm reloads from them. I also like the plastic dry can, it makes a good toolbox.

The local prices here in CT for 7.62 x39 seem to be at or under $4 per box. Anything I shoot in bulk I reload. One of the local shops here can feed my 300 Win Mag for under $20 a box. As long as you stay away from the shoreline gun stores you can still find some deals around here. Once you move out of central CT or northeastern CT you're going to pay through the nose.

I voted "other".

I get my ammo from Dillon, Hornady, and RCBS. 24 different chamberings, one round at a time from each pull of the press handle. ;)

Used to only buy surplus from ammoman, then all the drama went down on AR15.com -- something about selling a POS SKS as a "battlefield pickup" for way over the price when it wasn't, then refusing to do anything about it, then pissing off the mods to the point that they yanked his ads and refused to be associated with him...

I'm sure it's there if you search. Never again for me, I'm sorry to say. Used to be a cheap, reliable, no-hassle dude.

I usually buy ammo at.....

the local gun shows. I buy from Military Gun Supply when they have what I need. I watch Century for their ammo sales as they have flat rate shipping. I just ordered some Turk 8mm fro Weidener's on Sunday and it will be here on Friday. Nice service. I have been eyeing some ammo at Sportsman's Guide but the wife cut me off after the 8mm buy......you can never have too much ammo......chris3

While I reload most of my centerfire ammunition, when I need to buy factory or surplus ammunition, I prefer to do business with Cathy Gilronen of J&G Sales. They hit most of the bigger gunshows in Ohio. I've been doing business with them for nearly twenty years. They've always had good prices and better business ethics. I've bought over $200 worth of various types of handgun ammunition from them in the last few months.

Most of my ammo is bought either through www.aimsurplus.com (.308 surplus, .223 surplus, 7.62x54 surplus, 7.62x39 new production steel-case), but if I ever need anything else, I typically buy it through WalMart or reload my own.

I haven't bought any 7.62x39 yet, I will be as soon as I pay off the WASR and SKS. It's good to know that my source has a full pallet of it. ($2.50/box, East German 1970s production)

As far as other calibers, my bricks of 22 come from Wally World, 22 mag from Collector's firearms in Pelham NH (T-Bguns on gunbroker, but I dont think they're moving ammo through there), all surplus calibers so far (7.62x54R, 7.62x51, .303, etc) also come from Collectors.

Will never buy from Sportsman's Guide.

They were misrepresenting absolutely ineffective "Safety Disc" shotgun ammo as "so effective that US special forces are using it!"

Actual research would show that not only was it judged ineffective in ballistics tests, but the company went away. Sportsman's Guide is just unloading likely liquidated stock.

And when you misrepresent a product that can get someone KILLED if it doesn't work well, you've stepped over the line, I think.

The "we don't condone naziism but we have a half-dozen pages of brand-new $$$ replica SS uniforms for you to buy!" hypocrisy rubs me the wrong way, too. Liking a Luger is one thing. Making massive profits selling custom-fitted trousers, boots, jackets, coats, hats, and all with swastikas and all the right markings to look just like a REAL Auschwitz guard!....no.

I've picked up 5.56 from AIM Surplus (Guat. surplus... great stuff), Mirage Technologies (XM193) and SouthernAmmo (misc., has yet to arrive). I'm extremely happy with AIMSurplus and Mirage. Cheaper Than Dirt is good as well.

I've ordered from AmmoMan before, but have read lots of very disturbing things about him of late.
