For those of you who don't reload yourselves, where do you get your ammo? I want to buy in bulk and don't mind reloads (for random shooting, plinking, etc).

I'm in particular looking for .45 Colt. I'm trying to determine if I buy my Vaquero in .357 or .45. Ammo price will regrettably impact my decision. The .357 seems to be about $10 cheaper per 50.

I found Cabela's online sips bulk ammo. Anyplace else?

Although I've never tried it, I hear Georgia Arms ( www.georgia-arms.com ) has some great factory reloaded ammo. They call it "Canned Heat".

I get my ammo from www.ammoman.com . He sells factory new, and tax and shipping are included in his prices. I've found him to be the cheapest online, and his shipping is quick.

Bulk? Oh, man, another horrifically vague THR word (see, small, vendor, etc.) has reared its confused head.:D

So, you just want a case. That's not bulk, Bobby, that's just a warm up.:D

How about going to a CAS event? Where I am plenty of guys selling ammo there (sometimes right out of the company truck) and the horse opera shooters (well, some of them) can be serious shooters and spend a lot more on ammo, than guns. Is there a cowboy match near you anytime soon?

Georgia Arms. I've been buying a variety of calibers from them for years and years. Bought another 500 rounds of .223 at the gun show Sunday afternoon. It's up to $165, but included an ammo can. He said he had about 30k rounds left under the table. Or tables, they always have 8 or 10 tables.

It depends on where you live, due to shipping costs. There are several, but since your location is a secret,I can't give you any good tips, sorry.

Bulk in my case (9mm) is 250+ rounds; I just buy the yellow Remington UMC packs, and have not yet shot an entire box of it in one go. However, I have only seen it in 3 calibers: 9mm, .40S&W, and .45ACP.

But then again, two boxes of 50 is "bulk" to some folks.

I say a minimum of 500 pistol rounds is "bulk". Nothing less than a "can" of .223, 7.62 X 39, .308 etc. I guess.

Ammoman over the years has seemed to have good prices. Sportsmans Guide and Cheaper than Dirt will have good deals from time to time. I am sure there are other places.

I buy tons of Georgia Arms ammo, it's pretty good IMO. The cases are clean, it's very accurate, and it's only a bit more then Walmart.

I usually purchase pistol ammo in 500-1000rd cases usually ball ammo for shootin' although I cobble together defense ammo from deals I find at gunshows. For 9mm ball I like http://www.sportsmansguide.com I can usually find ammo there for about $7 per 50 rds. A bit cheaper if you join the Buyer's Club. That membership will pay for itself the first couple of purchases. $30 IIRC. Ammoman is decent but not the best I've seen. However when I go to Blackwater next fall, I'll buy my 1500 - 2500 rds from them since they'll ship it free to Moyock, NC.

Figured out a way around space-time physics.. awesome!! pm me!!

on topic, I get "bulk" ammo from Academy.. they carry a brand called monarch that's made in serbia (?) for $10-12/box for .40sw and .45acp. All fmj though. It's clean and I can usually get as much as I need at any one time. May not be the best deal out there but it's cheaper than winchester's white boxes and actually cheaper then the UMC yellow boxes. I also like the monarch on account of the box design. all pressboard (cardboard), no plastic or styrofoam. much more space efficient and (dare I even say it?) environmentally friendly.

On second thought, that ammo sucks.. don't get it.. you're better to spend your $$ on remington or winchester..

Is this really bulk or case quantity we're talking about? Bulk is usually shipped loose on one "bulk" container. I buy case quantity in that I'll by two cases of .40 S&W Winclean that are packaged as 2 cases containing 10 boxes in each case.

From ammoman I think I get bulk.

Some definition help.

Box = 50 or 20 rounds (depending)

Case = 500 or 760 or 1,000 rounds in boxes within the case (depending)

Bulk = loose ammunition in a box that may have 500 to 1,000 rounds in a box

Volume = multiple boxes or cases or bulk cases

I've bought volume in boxes, cases and bulk at times.

ammoman, sometimes AIM, sometimes ammunitiontogo. Mostly ammoman though, whatever I can't get from wal-mart. I have also bought from J&G sales.

anything less than a skid load is not bulk.

I always thought anything less than a 40' shipping container was not considered bulk.

When I buy 5-10k at a time i merely consider myself a higher than normal volume buyer....

to the OP - what the others said, GA, Ammoman, Nantcheze, AIM, Wal Mart.

Awesome guys, thanks for all sites and recommendations.

As for the bulk definition debate, I guess I'm just looking for "an ample quantity of rounds purchased at one time for a good price." If it comes loose in a dry can that's great, if its a case full of boxes, that's fine too.

But there are a lot of places for me to look into to find the best deal for me, so thanks again!

And El Tejon, I'll look into the CAS events around. I'm actually a SASS Member but haven't started competing yet (but want to keep the membership up to help support the group) but it'll definitely be a sweet deal if I can find a good ammo supplier and watch a CAS event at the same time. Gotta love the smell of gunpowder.
