Noticed you said rifle calibers... Have two first generation frames with multiple barrels. Do wildcat cartridges count? 30-30 Herrett & .357 Herrett. Have taken whitetail with the .357 Herrett.
A friend of mine let me shoot his 30.06 in a T.C. Think it had a 16 inch barrel. "Can I shoot it again?" "Sure, he said" It was fun until he told me I was shootin' his hand-loaded reduced loads! Do not know what it would feel like with full loads.
But yeah!, kinda a fan! God willing, will hunt again with a Contender, but I still take 'em, to the "range" for play.
Dad had a CVA muzzleloader pistol in .50cal. 100 grains (2 pellets) of White Hot would send that trigger guard slamming into my fingers so hard I thought I broke a few the first time I fired it. Not a particularly fun experience so never became a fan. Maybe 70 grains of loose would have made a difference but I suspect there would still be unburnt powder with the short barrel.
View attachment 809978 T / C Encore with 15" barrel in 7mm-08 and 2.5-8x Leupold. Originally I had wanted a Contender in .35 Remington but couldn't pass up the deal on this one. The recoil isn't all that bad. I've shot other people's single shots when chronographing them for the owners to ensure the safety of my Shooting Chrony and some were worse; some were pussycats. My usual handload has a 139 gr. Hornady S.P. running an average 2417 fps.
The resale value on TC barrels is really good as well. You can get whatever you want custom made from match grade machine for around $300 and if you decide you don't like it resell it for about 200
They seem like the El Camino of handguns. They don't fill either role very effectively.
