The path less chosen...
You know,the J&G special.
I wish i could see one side by side with something i can relate to.I guess its gonna be long in length and short in height?Who can splice together a CZ40 slide with the PO1's (?) frame and set it next to a 5" 1911?
:scrutiny:

RE:40P

I've got one on order through a local dealer. They are saying May delivery, but no one really knows. It should feel about the same as my PCR, but it will make a good match with my new .40 RAMI, since the RAMI will be able to use the 40P mags as well.

I just ordered one from J&G. :D :D :D

Their websight said "In Stock Now!!!" but I'll find out about that.

MMmmmmmmmm CZ-40P :p

Aww, man... and here I was saving my nickels for a RAMI. Decisions, decisons.

What is this thing, exactly? Externally it looks more CZ75ish than CZ40B. Weren't ehy going to drop production of the CZ40?

I haven't been keeping up with the sCZuttlebutt.

Wow! Just like how I wanted the CZ to be! A CZ made for 1911 shooters but with a decocker. :) I knew there was a reason why I was holding off on my CZ BD purchase. :) ' mind telling how much the dealer cost is?

The CZ40-P is a surplus CZ-40B slide (leftover from when Colt backed out of that deal), mated to a P-01 frame.
CZ only had 1500 leftover CZ-40 slides, so there will only be that many CZ40-P produced. It is highly unlikely that CZ would restart the CZ-40 slide production.

I have no idea what dealer cost is, I got mine from J&G for $320 including shipping (but not including my dealer's FFL fee)

I've had my 40P for over a week now. All I can say is for $300, run dont walk to your dealer. I got mine from J&G.

Typical CZ quality. Comes with 2 mags, snap caps, cleaning brush, hardcase and mag loader. Its a bit lighter and smaller that a 75B, about the same weight as my Steyr M40. Sights are nice and sight aquistition is fast. Trigger is tiny amount of creep because you have to depress the firing pin block first. Otherwise its on par with my 75B trigger. Grips are very ergonomic, without doubt the best fitting handgun I own.

After firing 100 rounds through it this weekend, I am pleased. It is very accurate, second only to my Hi-Power .40 and CZ-75B. Functioned without flaw.

To get all this for $300 has to be the best deal going right now.

It's home!!!!

I got it! So far I really like it, there is just a tad of trigger creep, like was already said. The slide to frame fit is very close, and smooth. The only missed detail in my opinion, is there is a small part of the frame rear (by the hammer) that could have been milled down to match the contour of the slide.

I bought mine a little over a week ago. It is a great pistol...as accurate as any CZ I have ever shot (which is a compliment only those who have shot a CZ can understand), has an improved magazine design, with a rail, improved sights, and has overall lines that make it one of the most handsome of the lot (IMHO). I hope it will be a standard production item.

Hey Oboeman, what's the improved mag design? Looks like it has a really weird baseplate angle from CZ100B's pic. Will it accept CZ40B mags, which I think are the same as .40 CZ75b mags?

What's the advantage over a CZ40B, just a decocker instead of safety? I might hold out for a .40 RAMI instead (which does use the same mags according to reports). I have a bunch and would want whichever new one I get to use the same ones.

CZ design by committee

It looks like a CZ75D Compact frame, note the red "fire" safety dot with a decocker in place of the safety. And with a modified slide ... WOW...

Why didn't they just make a PCR or P-01 in .40????

:what:

The mags are STANDARD fullsize 75/40B mags with an extension on it to work in the Compact frame of the PO1.....nothing improved about them.

The frame is a Compact as its a PO1 frame....STD also

The slide/sights are STD CZ40B.........its an OEM CZ FrankenGun.

CZUB wont make the gun as it was just invented to get rid of parts they had left over..........

If they machined the rear of the frame........the cost would go up considerably.........................

Shoot well.

They are, it just hasn't made it all the way through to us yet. CZ did this to clear out 1500 already made slides, that they did not have frames for (CZ can thank Colt for welching on that deal).

Jeremy

Actually......they put a pic of a prototype Comp Carry 40 in the 99/00 catalog but never made it.....that I know of yet anyway.

There are rumors in the mill but I have yet to hear anything solid from CZUSA or CZUB other than the Rami and 40P for a Compact 40.

Shoot well.

I have been waiting patiently for the CZ75 40 Compact for 4 years, since it debuted in the 2000 catalog, and I am STILL waiting. It was supposed to be out early this year, as well, now last word is late this year. I am STILL waiting.....

Well, ya never know. If CZ's popularity ever catches on with the rest of the world as much as we CZ lovers think it should, this limited run of 1500 might become collectors pieces.

Think I'll hold out for a RAMI though, myself.

Still waiting ...

That's at least two of us. I've already decided that my next CZ will be a compact .40, and if it takes to next fall, then I'll just have to wait some more.
