Another thread asked about Roy Rogers & the Lone Ranger. Well, that got me thinkin'.

There were many TV shows set in the "Wild West", especially in 1960's TV. Who's your pick for the Baddest Western good guy?

Here's mine. Check out the opening of 1960's TV series "The Rifleman" (from YouTube) with Chuck Conners. This guy is surely one "bad" good guy. This dude means business with that repeater!

Paladin
When you were young, did you think his first name was WIRE too?
Wyatt Earp (Hugh O'Brian and his Buntline Special) was pretty bad/good too.
Josh Randall (Steve McQueen with his cut down 30/30 on his hip),
in Wanted Dead Or Alive.

James Arness-Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke. I also liked his Zeb McCahan character in "How the West was Won".

The guy is a real life hero too. He was wounded in WW II (Italy I think) which gave him the slight limp when he walked.

I didn't think that, but as a little kid, I could make no sense at all from the words on his business card reading "Have Gun - Will Travel"

I mean it just made zero sense to me

I did like Paladin's gruff and no-nonsense approach to life and the knight chess symbol on his black holster was a cool touch.

good/bad guy

Paladin hands down. Richard Boone was the baddest looking good guy on TV.
If my memory serves me correctly, A Paladin was a knight during the middle ages (hence the knight on his card) that owed no allegiance to a lord but travel the country selling his services to the cause of justice. Which fitted the story line of the show.
A close second was Steve McQueen. He carried a cut down winchester carbine which was really bad a**. Can't remember for sure about the name of the show but I think it was THE REBEL or maybe WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.
The name of his character was Johnny Yuma as I recall.

In our hearts we all know it was Paladin

Yes But I also like:

Robert Conrad as James West - Wild Wild West
Amd Don't forget...
Michael Landon as Little Joe Cartwright. He was always a dead on shot.

Movies:

John Wayne
How about Kevin Cosner, Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn and Danny Glover in Silverado.

Love the 2 gun rig Cosner Shoots, Kevin Kline's ivory handled Colts, and Danny Glover's Henry Rifle.

The westerns back then were very good with a simple good guys vs bad guys and the good guys always won. One of my favorite actors was Clint Walker who stared in Cheyenne on TV and did some good movie work as well. The guy was for real as a human too , I met him at a gunshow once and he was very nice to all.

Got to say Richard Boone in Paladin was really good too. The shows story lines were great for the days and Boones writers came up with neat guns in his show along with unusual holster rigs. I forget the name of the rig but one guy had a gun with an extended screw head out the side of it. That screw head slipped into a slot on your belt and the gun was either drawn forward or would swivel in the slot. You could shoot without drawing.

I think Bianchi made a run of these holsters.
