NeoKilt (http://www.neokilt.com/) shows a "concealed pistol sleeve" as an accessory for their kilts;

As to CCW, either a small pistol in the sporran, or an IWB holster toward the back; the fold that pulls up over the shoulder conceals it nicely.

according to the old song,

When the scottsman woke up after a night of hard celebrating and found a fancy bow tied round his wedding tackle, he said to his little man, "I don't know where you been, But i am sure pleased to see you won the blue ribbon"

I've always wondered what gun would be appropriate for open carry with a kilt ...

Do what the Highlanders did at Culloden--carry multiple flintlock pistols with no reloads. When you're out of ammo/guns, switch to the basket-hilt claymore and the targe.

When I was Deputy Operations Officer for the 2nd Infantry Division, I was also Division Piper. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders came to Korea for Christmas of '80, and I piped them across the stone bridge to Christmas dinner in the General's Mess.

Each girl had an escort, and several of my friends were sitting at a table with the girls they escorted. One of them called me over. "She has a question to ask you."

After a little blushing and giggling, she asked, "What do you wear under your kilts?'

And I said, "I'll tell yez me darlin', th' barbarous Scots wear nothin' atall under the kilt. Sure an' we Irish are more civilized. We wear th' same ting, but we tie a knot in it to keep it from dhraggin' th' ground.":D

Steveracer: I like your grandads qoute, sounds like our granpas could have drinking buddies .

Keltec P380 is the perfect sporran carry gun and of course you can't wear a kilt without a claidheamh beag (also know as a Scottish Dirk or small word)

Yeah, like that worked out real well ....

Since some of you have mentioned pipe bands, I just have to mention this little story that I heard: A certain pipe band wanted to translate their band name into Gaidhlig, and so asked someone who knew a bit of the language. He replied "Chan eil fhios agam" and I guess they had gotten to the point of having it embroidered and printed on stuff before they found out what he really said :D

But he did answer them honestly, as he really didn't know ;)

Sporran is plenty big for carry, the original fanny pack. If it isn't big enough, go with something strapped to the thigh. By the way, I got kicked out of the Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi, Mississippi because I wore my sgian dubh to a concert. My shadow won't pass their doors again.

He was standing in the Safeway in Estes Park and the thing falls right out of its holster and hits the floor

Ha! Estes Park. Glad there were no Elk around or he would have been in trouble. :)

I carry a Seecamp .32 in my sporran.Anyone who wears a kilt knows a thigh carry rig would be detected right away.Too many Lassies checking under there!tom.:p

Ok, so I haven't been on the boards all that often, and almost missed this one...

Except when riding my Goldwing or working, I'm in a kilt (traditional MacLeod "wee kilt" as I type this). I've got UKs, too. With the UK (or similar modern kilt), and IWB works just fine: I've carried a Colt Officer's in a Milt Sparks VM2 several times, without a problem. Lately, if I'm wearing a more traditional kilt, I go with a Colt Mustang in a Bianchi inner thigh holster (it's meant more for women, but works fine). One warning with the Bianchi: if you go regimental, things can feel a bit awkard. The ladies aren't an issue: were one to try, they'd probably get hurt by my wife... ;)

A friend of mine from the Ren Faire is a kilt maker, and is working on a special sporran for me: the back panel is a formed holster/dual mag pouch for the Mustang. I'll snap some pics when I get it (and let y'all know what the price is)...

Depends if it is a modern kilt or Great kilt. Each gives different choices for conceilment. Sporran, pouch (great kilt front), thigh, not to mention the cutlery they ignore. It gives a plethora of options for firepower and edged weapons, and most folks ingore the edged weapons!

Other than the accutriments, everything else is regulation, and my wife will atest top that!:)
