Why all the negativity towards Rem Oil?

For me, RemOil has its place. When I lived in SD, I used it on my shotgun during cold weather duck/goose season. For most cleaning/lube I use CLP on all my guns. I keep a spray can of RemOil with my reloading stuff and give my dies a quick shot/wipe down before putting them back into the boxes.

Why all the negativity towards Rem Oil?

I've never seen "negativity" towards Rem Oil. Many people, myself included, just express a preference for a different product. I've used Rem Oil and it works fine within its parameters, but I prefer CLP. I'd hardly call that negativity.

For the record I don't have anything against Rem Oil. I use it but I use for what it's intended - to prevent rust on external metal. It works great for that. And if you haven't seen it build up on interior parts it's probably because you clean them with something else once in a while. It takes a good bit of Rem Oil inside an action to cause a serious problem but some people go hog wild with stuff like that.

Yes I have had rust with rem-oil, wasr-10 that was sitting next to my bed for a few months, I live in florida, humidity is very high, Break free CLP works here, no rust, Rig also works well but a bit messy, more for storage.

Rem oil does evaporate, I do find that it penetrates well, I use it at a cleaner, the very light oil breaks up fouling and residue from other heavier oils, applied to a warm gun at the range when you get home everythig wipes of in one pass,

Long term protection? No!
