Is there any counseling or help for a gun buying Addict? And at what point is it an addiction or (OCD)? I just walked out of another gun store and dropped another Downpayment on handgun, ...Dont know why, but it just makes me feel sooooooooo gooooood.:banghead:

The only cure for gun addiction is to buy one of every model.

Once you get there (and of course get multiples of the ones you really like) THEN maybe you'll be cured ... maybe.

yeah ,but the sad part of it is ,i cant even walk into a gun shop anymore ,alot of them have Layaways and man thats where i get in trouble, because if i were buying it outright ,it would 'nt last for long when my Wife found out, she already Think's i'm crazy.:cuss:

Layway!

Yea i think a lot of gun stores now offer layway and it sucks it I always find something I want or need. Now every time I go into my local pawn/gun store he always has something that he thinks i would like and i always do. I think hes got me figured out and now I have my cousin into it too.

I know I'll get flak for this but one way to treat it is to not go to the gun shop when you need ammo or common gun supplies, go to Walmart. Walmart doesn't have guns, but has the other stuff you need, so the guns aren't there to tempt you.

I don't think it's actually a problem. Just don't start running the cost figures through your mind and you'll be allright.

If guns are an addiction, then I have reached the point where it takes a much bigger jolt for me to get the same feeling.

I'll be honest, walking into a gun store no longer excites me the way it used to. It's all pretty much just the same thing. No, for me to really feel good, I have to be in the presence of something semi-custom or full-on custom. JP Enterprises rifles, Accuracy International, STI, Korth.

The rest of it, I mean, Glocks, Bushmasters, and S&W's are nice and all, but they just don't thrill the way they used too.

You have listed gateway guns. Time to move up to the harder stuff I guess :)

I agree with justin a little bit

after some firearms, you start to look at little bit of progression/ or just something differant, after glocks/ 1911's after mosin nagants/ remington 700, after ak's /ar15 now im starting to consider a suppressor, I guess its just a true love/passion/hobby/addiction what ever you want to call it, I have it. because I could walk into a gun store today and still think I really need a ruger LCP/ or a S&W 442 or a marlin 1894 in 45/70 and still have no true need for any of them, but could always find a reason why I want them

My theory:
They have a huge variety, a lot of history, craftsmanship, and utility. Their use is something that one can spend a lifetime learning. They're also loud and powerful(see truck/car addictions).

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but personally... I'm expecting an intervention any day now.

OK thats what im talking about right there, an actual reason makes sense now, that really justifies it for me, ...very well put.;) I think i'll go buy some more.

1. Their price point. Most of us can afford to buy at least 1 or 2 a year. Some of us can afford many more. Factor in trades once you have a good collection going and the possibilities are endless.
2. Every gun/caliber/make/model serves a slightly different purpose and has its perceived advantages. It's very easy to say I need a .44 just in case I run into a bear but I also need a .380 just in case I have to conceal at the beach. Or, I better get another AR before they are banned. And I love 1911s but need a Glock 21 because they are so reliable. A SF GLOCK 21, that's intriguing.
3. They are relatively liquid - we say to ourselves...it looks like a good deal so I better grab it while i can. If I don't like it I can always sell it.

Addiction, nahhh. I don't have a problem. I haven't even outgrown my safe.
