Why are Guns so Addicting?

Firearms are LIKE WOMEN !!! Some are plain but underneath are Sex Kittens , some are So Sexy on the outside but not as good as they look , some are unobtainable , some are high maintanance , some are your first and some are your last ---- AND SOME STAY WITH YA FOR A LIFETIME:D

EDIT --- Oh yeah -- and some break your HEART:(

Don't know why but I always have one more on my short list. At least this time it's an AR and you can buy it one piece at a time. Spread the enjoyment and cost over time!

IT can be addicting.

For me as an adult with a decent job, life, family, etc. it is one of the few items due to my wife and budget; I simply can not just go and buy.

Therefore, I want what I cant have.......

Then when I do buy one, there are still 10+ that I cant have,

Therefor I want what I cant have..........

(Repeat to infinity):evil::what::evil::rolleyes:

There is no cure. Sorry. Just support groups like this one.

I agree with HardShell. There is no cure.

Everytime I buy another gun, I find I am always one gun short of being happy.

tell me about it!

I just picked up a Colt Ananconda 44 mag THAT I DONT NEED BUT LOVE!!

My wife is pissed

Firearms are real magic. A mix of alchemy, history, chemistry, physics, biology governed by law and incorporated into various martial disciplines. Interest in firearms is arcane and occult, particularly when you have a witch's brew of powders and projectiles and the ancient tomes of handloading to consult. That's why people are so scared of us--we hold the keys to the dark magic.

I am a gun show junkie, I go to all that I can. Then when I get there, sometimes I dont even know why I went. I make lists like I am going to the grocery store :D

What besides guns can provide.

1- Defense for your family
2-food for your dinner table
3-Hours of relativly inexpensive entertainment
4-A fairly good investment (so I tell my wife)
5-A good nights sleep

So buy more Guns and enjoy!!!:):)

The talk of doubles is not a rare phenomenon. The wife and I already own two doubles - two S&W Airweight 32 H&R Magnums and a couple of Sterlings. Our next duplication will be when I buy my very own Puma "Bounty Hunter" mares leg in 44-40 to match hers.

If guns are an addiction, then I have reached the point where it takes a much bigger jolt for me to get the same feeling.

I have the same problem a few years ago a simple off the rack Bolt Action Remchester would have given me the gun fix now it takes something more. It works like this $200 guns used to work then $500 guns did it, then $1,000 now it's $2,000 plus and I still need my fix. I was saved for a short time from Bankruptcy by getting into pocket guns and their relative inexpense compared to my other toys. Well I now have most every freaking 25 and .380 that is out there but still carry the ugly/cheap/ but effective P3AT.

The plus side to a gun addiction is that instead of spending ridiculous amounts on something like Cocaine you still have something you could sell and doesn't destroy your Nasal passages. The only problem is I'd about rather lose a finger than sell a gun so when I croak I guess my daughter will be able to buy a small Island in the Pacific with the proceeds of my estate auction.

Be sure to tell her to let us other addicts know when the auction will be.:D:D

Most of us would have to admit to at least a subconscious feeling of POWER. Here in my hand I have the control of Life and Death. That is power.

Perhaps it should be more conscious in our minds. Owning firearms demands rational thought.

Same here. I have all the inexpensive guns I want, now the only things that really get me excited are the handful of ones I really want, and they're not things you'd find in a gun store. The big addiction for me is shooting. I'm devoting all the time and money into ammo and range trips that I possibly can, and I still keep wanting more.

I really wish I was shooting right now.

Guess I'm just a practical guy. My 'battery' consists of guns that are utilized for home defense, hunting & plinking fun. The 22/45 I recently purchased was one that I had extensively researched over the last 3 months. My decision to buy was based on it's multi-functionality & reliability. I have no interest in collecting or 'stocking up'. Yes, I possess a CCW, carry daily & practice with it at regular intervals.

Why are Guns so Addicting? I sure don't know.

I never wanted a gun. I kind of inherited one about a year and a half ago. I only took it because my son wanted me to have something for home defense. I casually mentioned my acquisition to the "gun nut" at work. He offered to take me to the range and show me how to shoot it.

Big mistake!

The range trip with the unwanted gun was in June 08. It's now August 09 and I currently own 12 handguns, some I've never had a chance to fire, and a "want" list of three times that amount.

I've decided: no more gun purchases* until I am totally proficient with every one of the guns I already own (with the possible exception of the 2 pos guns I was given and don't actually want but can't part with for no logical reason except they're guns and they're mine).

*unless, you know, I see a really good deal, or something I really want, or something that's hard to find, or........

I am reminded of that scene in Futurama when a doomsday device is needed to enhance the plot line, the crazy professor opens a massive safe and reluctantly hands over a single device. Despite the other 20 or so devices he says "Well I suppose I could spare 1 and still be feared"
Its similar in that realistically every need could be met with probably 4 or 5 firearms, and you can only use one at a time.
But when is the last time you saw a baseball card collection consisting of 5 cards? or a stamp collection that could be diminished by mailing out the monthly bills? No no my friends, I submit that no collection is ever complete because as soon one thinks it is they will dismantle it and start again on something else. Proof is in all the guys on here saying they need to get rid of some guns because they have too many.

Why are Guns so Addicting?

I think gun manufatureres have been adding NICOTINE to the grips for years. Just handeling them can be fun. But I do enjoy the range trips more...maybe it's the NICOTINE they've been adding to smokeless powder!

hello, my name is ccsniper. I am addicted to guns. last gun I bought I went into this euphoria, man it just feels so good. my addiction started when I first saw Red Dawn, now I am hopelessly lost in a downward spiral of firearms. but I have been sober for one week now, and hopefully at least another month.:)
