Why do lightfield 2.75" slugs say not for use in 3.5" chambers?

Still no answer from mossberg on this. I sent another email.
I think your expectation that Mossberg will be able to address this to your satisfaction is misplaced. It's Lightfield's restriction; it applies to all 3.5" chamber guns, not just Mossbergs.

They could tell me whether 2.75" slugs are safe or not. Whatever, they avoided the question completely....

Thank you for your e-mail. Sir if your using sabot with your cantilever
barrel and your having problems with the accurracy go ahead and try
another brand see if it might be the type of ammo if is still doing the
same thing go ahead and send us the barrel so we can check it here and
see what is causing the problem , Just provide us the type of ammo your
using so we can test fire it with the barrel. Or if you prefer send us
the gun so we can give it a complete check up. Our toll free number is
1-800-363-3555. for better assistance.

I'll just keep doing what works.

Firing a 2-3/4" slug in a 3-1/2" chamber is not recommended because of the length of the jump the slug makes between the end of a 2-3/4" case and the front end of a 3-1/2" chamber. This can cause misalignment of the sabot on the slug, thus causing a serious pressure problem as well as poor accuracy. Slugs are NOT LIKE SHOT SHELLS where a shorter shell can be safely fired in a longer chamber with no ill effects. The bottom line is you should use a shell with a minimum case length of 3" (ideally 3-1/2") in any 3-1/2" chambered rifled barrel for best accuracy. THE CASE LENGTH SHOULD MATCH THE CHAMBER LENGTH WHEN IT COMES TO SLUGS.

Kindly point out the "pure BS" part.

I have to agree with Virginian here. If you notice the Lightfield statement, they never say anything about it being their slugs. They are saying ALL 2 3/4" slugs and ALL 3 1/2" chambers. They recommend 3 1/2" slugs ideally. Well guess who is the only manufacturer of 3 1/2" slugs? And they're only about $5 a box more expensive. (When compared to their own product.) The primers are the same, the slugs and sabots are the same, the case is 1/2" longer, and there is a little bit more powder. Not worth $1 a round. What is worth $1 a round is that they are the only ones that make them.

So yes, it is BS. And it's ironic that so few people see it. I'll give them credit though, using the typical lawyer CYA statement , that we're so use to, to aid in sells of a product they have a monoploy on. Very creative. And it might scare a few people into buying their product.
