Why does .40 S&W suck?

I find most of the time, a .45 in the same platform actually has softer recoil. Why downgrade?

You get greater magazine capacity, in a smaller frame gun, with an equally effective round.
I don't see how that can be considered a "downgrade"?

The .40SW may suck but someone explain why I pickup more .40SW and 9mm cases at the range then any other caliber.
Example: For every single .45APC case I pick up I'll pickup 30 .40SW cases.
This leads me to believe there are an awful lot of "sucky" .40SW shooters out there. (me included) :D

Load up a good 9mm. Cheaper to load, I like the way 9mm shoots compared to .40. Really wouldn't hesitate to own one, just not my choice if I had one of each to pick from.....

Ummm...Uhh, yeah .40S&W does suck so stop buying up all the ammo and leave it all for me. LOL:D

The 40 is a fine round when put to it's intended use. Nothing less, nothing more. I recall reading somewhere that some LE department in Tennessee had achieved some amazing record of one-shot stops with it. Or maybe unqualified stops, I can't recall. Either way, it does the job -- or there's a department somewhere in Tennessee employing some phenomenal gun fighters.
