Why I like the 10mm

FYI--there's an article about cast bullet loads for the 10mm auto in the current "Handloader." Made me want to get a 10mm, but the $$ is still too high for me.

This is an old thread....More 10mm out there now. I load my own and am waiting patiently to scrape up enough funds to buy a 1076 I have seen hidden in a case in a gunstore.

10mm

I have a DW "Razorback" & just bought a Para P-16 - sent to Hunter Customs for his 10mm conversion package.

Had a Glock model 20 - sold it. nice weapon just not my cup of tea.

12-34hom.

I've been interested in the 10mm P16 conversion for a while...

Aside from awe, what have your impressions been? Reliability?

Mine has been very reliable so far (200+ rds). My gunsmith used the original barrel for the coversion.

You will not regret the S&W 1076. I sold mine during my "can't stand DA auto" phase, and I remember it as being a wonderful pistol. I can also recommend the Glock 20, but the 1076 was one of the most accurate "non-target" handguns I've ever fired.

The 1076 is my favourite 10mm. When I was packing an bottom feeder, it was pretty my constant companion. It's still my most often shot/carried autoloader.

i'll get on the bandwagon:neener:
ever since i got my glock 20, i've found nirvana..:what:
this is the gun i should have bought first...i need no other!:D
after buying one of each caliber, different brands and types of guns...
i found the ONE! i would glady sell my other guns, if it came to it..
i'll just make do with my .22lr beretta neos and the Glock G20...15 rnd of 10mm. Ajua!! Viva Glock! Viva 10mm!!:D :neener: :p

I Just purchased a Glock 20 but i have not shot it yet. I am kind of excited after reading all of the reviews for it. I hope i made a wise desicion. Does anyone else own a Glock 20?

I love my Glock 20. I want to get a KKM 6" barrel for it for some insane loads I've read about.

The stock barrel isnt bulging brass or being a pest to me so I'm happy.

G'day Lennyjoe, and et al.,

Yes, (I'm somewhat in your neighborhood, just to the southeast a bit) the G20 is a fun pistol. I've added to fun with a conversion barrel to allow me to safely run 40 SW for some cost savings when I play in those lost brass matches. I was fortunate that under 50 metres both barrels shoot to the same point of aim.

Running those full power 10mm rounds lets me play with the steel targets on the rifle range. Had one of the range masters ask if that was me hitting the 300 metre ram. Then he says that doesn't sound like a regular Glock! Yup! He had never even heard of a 10mm, so I showed him a 40SW along with the 10mm. He is now enlightened.

Merry Holidays to all! See ya out at the ranges sometime! Cheers!

One more quick question. I bought CCI 10mm Blazer ammo (200gr) today and was wonder if that is a good ammo to shot through my Glock 20. Will it damage my barrel or anything.

CCI should be fine since it's not loaded too hot.

There is plenty of 10MM ammo available on the web. As for local gun shops, not too much except for Winchester Silvertips, CCI ammo and maybe UMC but its hard to find since not too many shops stock it.

The .40 is a fine round but I reload and love the 10MM too much to insult my G20 with a .40 cal barrel.;)

BTW, my 1st gun of 2007 is going to be a G29.

Since I started this thread I need to add I just bought a Dan Wesson CBOB 10mm and for the money its a custom pistol at 1/3 the price...now I've got my eye on a Glock 20...stayed tuned...;)

I have done alot of research on the 10mm. and am intreged by it, but the cost kept me away. So one day I bought a S&W 1006 used like new for $350.00. I only have experiance with WINCHESTER 10mm. 175 GR. SILVERTIP HP. and CCI BLAZER 10mm. 200 GR. TMJ. I almost never buy new guns, but when I heard that Ruger was going to discontinue the REDHAWK in .45 COLT I bought one in stainless with a 5.5 in. bbl. I bought both of the guns to force myself into reloading. I have been interested in reloading for a long time but have been a little intimadated by it, because when I do something I want to know most everything about it befor I start, and with reloading there is so much information and time involved in working up different loads that I have stayed away because of the time involved, I just don't have enough of it. To solve this problem I made a promise to myself to get set up for reloading before I buy another gun. I will keep this promise, I'm just not shure how long it will take me.

Welcome to the 10mm world.

Some people say that all of us 10mm fans are crazy. Some say that the 10mm is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Some say that the 10 is dead :scrutiny: . If 10mm is dead, then Glock is dead. Facts are facts. Yes the 10mm is a rare bird compared to the "mainstream calibers", but it is not impossible to find. The Glock 20 is about the only hangun ( of reasonable size and weight ) that can seriously compete with the .357 Desert Eagle, in terms of firepower. Not saying that the Glock 20 is the best 10mm, but it is the only one besides the 29 that I have had any experience with. Also the fact is that full power 10 ammo roughly equates to low to mid - range .41 magnum specs ( factory ammo ). Pack in 15+1 into a semi-auto, it's like the peanut butter and chocolate of handgunning  .

I'm thinking of putting a 10mm Witness on layaway just after I finish paying off my RIA 1911 in .38 Super. I've heard the stock recoil spring is a bit light for the chambering. Any suggestions as to how heavy a Wolff recoil spring I should replace the stock one with?
