I went to three gun shops today looking to see what was in stock since I was bored and love to perouse gun shops for deals. NONE had any tactical shotguns, or AR's at all! In fact, it felt and looked by the products on the shelves and in the cases I was teleported back to the "pre tactical era" known as the 70s. Very strange. But I did meet a very cute and smart girl at Big 5. She was pregnant and was a total 2a supporter! She was working the gun counter as well! She was talking to an anti of sorts at the counter and told him she fully beleives in the right for a person to protect themselves even if it means having to shoot someone!

I was so happy to hear a female, especially a pregnant one say that!

Anyway, Big 5 had a couple Remington Express's but none of the neat new Desert Recon versions which I wanted to look at and fondle.

That is what I thought and what the girl at the counter said! She even said they have been having a real hard time keeping up with demand because of Obamafobia. She said they have sold as many guns in the last 3 months as they did all last year.

Its all part of Obama's economic stimulus package. Who would have thought he would generate so much business for the firearms industry.

Well, taking that comment into consideration, it would be not just tactical firearms. In fact, the shelves were pretty full of the generic stuff, a ton of bird guns, a ton of upper end 1911's and other pistols. BUT, like I said, no AR's or ANY tactical model Remington 870s or anything , and I hate to use this term, Assault rifle like". So I would think those who are Obamaphobic are buying anything they can get their hands on and not well enough educated or in the need for the "good stuff" so to speak!:)

A note here too, one of the shops I go inot a lot to check out usually has at least 10 AR's in stock, not one today. One of the others usually has over a dozen, none.

Gun store here had a 10% off sale for 10 days and darn near sold out of handguns and tactical stuff.

Another factor is that many manufacturers grossly underestimated demand for gun-related products through the end of the year. I could have sold twice as much stuff the last couple of months than I did because the manufacturers didn't have the items available.

Its a fear based market, people are dishing up top dollar for everything, gun and ammo companies know it, so they are milking it. I'm afraid we will be stuck with these prices for the next 4 years, the fear is not going away.

That's a word I'm adding... Obama-panic. I sometimes wonder if brewing companies were backordered in 1920...

I just walked into a Dicks in Maple grove MN last night and bought a 930spx.
they had 6-8 defense type shotty's in stock even though it's not really their usual market.

I guess Minnesotans don't panic as much as other parts of the country.

You aren't kidding. I was at the store the Monday and they were still out. The place was totally packed as well. There was a note on the shelf stating that they would have more in on Tuesday. I went on Wendsday and the Tuesday had been crossed, replaced with a Wendsday, also now crossed out. Just a big ''?''.

Of course I am talking about turkeys. The ammo shelves at Walmart were overflowing and the gunshop had about a dozen AR's and even more shotguns in stock. Tons on Guns America too. I guess that shipping and transfer fees are too much for you.

Ammo is hard to find

I can't find much in the way of 22 LR ammo. I have been stocking up for the past year or so but now all the local shops including Walmart are sold out. The owner of a local shop told me that he has no idea when he will be able to restock because the powder and primer compound is in short supply.

My father in law was travelling through several states over thanksgiving and he was planning on hitting Cabelas to fill up on reloading supplies and found two stores cleaned out and several small mom & pop stores cleaned out of reloading supplies as well.

This is just what I have been told lately.

Apparently we now live in a bubble-based economic world. Things go up really fast, houses, oil, equities, guns, etc.. and then they fall really fast runing a lot of peoples lives in the process. The trick is to buy when other people are selling and vice versa. In about 12 months (maybe a lot less) you can expect a severe drop in the prices of ARs, AKs and basically anything thats inflated now.

Chicken little has been running around on the internet gun forums.

There still seems to be a lot of guns available here in SE Virginia, but I have had a problem finding .357 mag., 22LR, .17HMR and .45 ACP ammo, it is pretty bizarre.

Well, let's see.

The last Democrat president ushered in an Assault Weapons Ban that lasted for 10 years.

This Democrat incoming has lived all his life in anti-gun states (Hawaii, New York, Illinois) and has never used guns. He believes the rhetoric that has been spouted by the Anti crowd and is now in the position to do something about it. Personally, I think he has his hands full with the economy, two on-going wars, and a host of other issues to deal with before banning guns, but you never know.

I just hope his Attorney General doesn't take to killing and terrorizing American citizens like Clinton's did.
(Ruby Ridge, Waco, The Elian Gonzales debacle...)

Too cold to panic, rallyhound, but I bet Bill's Gun Shop is doing a brisk business. Talked with an old friend the other day who lives in south Minneapolis, and he said he has seen some emptier racks. Wish I was there, I moved down here about a year ago. We had a pellet or two of sleet and that's it. I've got to find some winter before long or I'm going to go crazy.

Don't forget that Obama publicly stated that he is against "high-powered assault weapons" during debates with Alan Keyes in his race for the senate.

What sort of gets me is how even the prices on "conventional" rifles have gone up. Deals on SKS's and Mini-14's are nowhere to be found.

Ditch dgr,
+1 on what I've seen regarding ammo availability. Even bulk packs of .22Lr are getting scarce. I stopped by A&P in Hampton two weeks ago and there were a lot of empty pegs where AR's used to sit.

I was at a local Bi-Mart here in Oregon a few days ago looking to pick up some .45 ACP and some .357 magnum rounds. There were no JHP .357 rounds at all, so I just picked up a box of 38's for plinking. As for the .45 ACP, very limited selection for JHP. Basically, just Remington white box or Hornady 200 grain JHP. None of the other quality JHP rounds on the shelf at all. I was looking for Federal, Sabers, any of the other usual suspects, not none there. I think I'll try out ammunitiontogo online and see how that goes. Seems very pricey though.

Handgun and rifle ammo in the popular flavors is incredibly scarce around these parts. I will report back from the local gunshow tomorrow on what the out of state vendors have.

ammo

the loading tool companies are going full tilt also.you want ammo get yourself loading tools.I favor Lee clasic cast turret my self and have about 30 molds, and 15 presses, most brands. but I have been loading since 1937.
 :uhoh:  :D

Gun shows in Houston are well stocked and the AR's are reasonably priced. The ammo is sky high :what: though.
