Why no short-barreled Over-Unders?

There are quite a few out there - it's just that most people who make a SBS 12ga would rather it be as Hollywood as possible... I know "for show" is why I have mine!

Wow! Thanks for that link! That looks like it'd be a great woods gun, with the sights regulated for the top barrel using slugs, and a load of buckshot in the lower barrel.

Edited to add:

I think I'll get one of those in nickel, to match my stainless/black revolvers.

Why would anyone even need one?

Seriously? I hardly see the sense of it. Side by sides exist, and pumps are there.

Would it mean that one desires precision shooting with a short-barrelled shotgun?

Sense? Since when does buying a gun require sense or need? I buy guns because they are fun. I have never bought a over-under because they are all long barreled fud looking guns so the short barrel appeals to me just as a way of having a cool unusual weapon.

Do you only buy guns because they adhere to a strict definition of a tool for your use? I sure don't, and that is why my safe is full of fun guns and only 2 bolt actions and no over-unders.

Short barrel over under, I would be all over one if I could get it with the wood and polished blued finish and some engraving, would make for a very interesting gun to bring to the range.

That Stoeger is really good looking. The blued/walnut may have just popped up in my wish list :)

Always wanted an over under to call my own, usually out of my price range though....

Love the nickel, and the fact it has sights.

I regularly get cloverleaf groups at 10-15 yards, with 6.5" barreled smoothbore pump action. Granted, a cloverleaf isn't that much of an achievement with .729 caliber slugs, but it's certainly as accurate as any of my pistols.

that stoeger outback, I have been looking at that for quite some time and haven't figured out a legitimate reason to buy it other than it looks freaking sweet. I don't know what uses it would be....

It would make a great turkey gun with those short barrels. I normally use a 22" barrel but since there ain't no velocity loss with a 20", it would be perfect in blue and walnut. Those longer barrels are a PITA in a blind.
