With the election bearing down upon us, it is time to give some serious consideration regarding which candidates to vote for and why. Phil Brennan makes a good case for voting for the ones with (R) after their names.

Analysis: Ten Good Reasons to Vote GOP
Phil Brennan, NewsMax.com
Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006

If the polls are to be believed, the Republicans who control the White House and Congress are in trouble.

Their problem?

People vote their pocketbooks, or wallets, the old adage goes.

But the economy is booming. Even gasoline prices have plummeted. Unemployment, the bogeyman of politicians, has shrunken to a record low point.

As for the security matter, since 9/11, the worst attack on American soil since the Civil War, the United States has been free of any significant terrorist attack. None. Zippo. Zilch.

If Americans do vote the GOP out of either House of Congress, many of these accomplishments are threatened.

Should Democrats get control of the House of Representatives, they have already promised that one of the Republican initiatives that made all these things possible will be rolled back.

Higher taxes -- and with it, economic recession and more unemployment.

The Democrats will also signal the terrorists a "victory" for their side with a push for a quick withdrawal from Iraq. Remember, the Congress, not the president, funds our troops abroad. A Democratic Congress will most assuredly withhold funding unless Bush relents.

The list of Republican accomplishments is both long and real, and provides the platform upon which even greater results will be built under a Republican Congress and White House.

For sure, the GOP has had its share of shortcomings. The economy could be doing better. The deficit could be smaller. The postwar plans in Iraq could have been better implemented.

If anything, the Republicans are facing a message deficit. The liberal media establishment is just not letting them tell their story to the American people.

Here are 10 good reasons why you should vote Republican come election day. You won't hear about them on ABC, CBS or NBC News.

Reason #1. The economy is kicking butt. It is robust, vibrant, strong and growing. In the 36 months since the Bush tax cuts ended the recession that began under President Clinton, the economy has experienced astonishing growth. Over the first half of this year, our economy grew at a strong 4.1 percent annual rate, faster than any other major industrialized nation. This strong economic activity has generated historic revenue growth that has shrunk the deficit. A continued commitment to spending restraint has also contributed to deficit reduction.

Reason #2. Unemployment is almost nil for a major economy, and is verging on full employment. Recently, jobless claims fell to the lowest level in 10 weeks. Employment increased in 48 states over the past 12 months ending in August. Our economy has now added jobs for 37 straight months.

Reason #3. The Dow is hitting record highs. In the past few days, the Dow climbed above 12,000 for the first time in the history of the stock market, thus increasing the value of countless pension and 401(k) that funds many Americans rely on for their retirement years.

Reason #4. Wages have risen dramatically. According to the Washington Post, demand for labor helped drive workers' average hourly wages, not including those of most managers, up to $16.84 last month -- a 4 percent increase from September 2005, the fastest wage growth in more than five years. Nominal wage growth has been 4.1 percent so far this year. This is better or comparable to its 1990s peaks. Over the first half of 2006, employee compensation per hour grew at a 6.3 percent annual rate adjusted for inflation. Real after-tax income has risen a whopping 15 percent since January 2001. Real after-tax income per person has risen by 9 percent since January 2001.

Reason #5. Gas prices have plunged. According to the Associated Press, the price of gasoline has fallen to its lowest level in more than 10 months. The federal Energy Information Administration said Monday that U.S. motorists paid $2.21 a gallon on average for regular grade last week, a decrease of 1.8 cents from the previous week. Pump prices are now 40 cents lower than a year ago and have plummeted by more than 80 cents a gallon since the start of August. The previous 2006 low for gasoline was set in the first week of January, when pump prices averaged $2.238. In the week ending Dec. 5, 2005, prices averaged $2.19. Today, gasoline can be found for less than $2 a gallon in many parts of the country.

Reason #6. Since 9/11, no terrorist attacks have occurred on U.S. soil. Since 9/11 the U.S. has not been attacked by terrorists thanks to such programs as the administration's monitoring of communications between al-Qaida operatives overseas and their agents in the U.S. and the monitoring of the international movement of terrorist funds -- both measure bitterly opposed by Democrats.

Reason #7. Productivity is surging and has grown by a strong 2.5 percent over the past four quarters, well ahead of the average productivity growth in the last 30 years. Strong productivity growth helps lead to the growth of the Gross Domestic Product, higher real wages, and stronger corporate profits.

Reason #8. The Prescription Drug Program is working. Despite dire predictions that most seniors would refrain from signing up to the new Medicare prescription benefits program, fully 75 percent of all those on Medicare have enrolled, and the overwhelming majority say they are happy with the program.

Reason #9. Bush has kept his promise of naming conservative judges. He has named two conservative justices to the Supreme Court, Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito. In addition, he has named conservative justices who are devoted to the Constitution as it is written and not as activist liberal judges think it means. The strong likelihood that one or more justices will retire from the Supreme Court makes it mandatory for the Republicans to hold the Senate and have a chance to name new conservative justices.

Reason #10. The deficit has been cut in half three years ahead of the president's 2009 goal, with the 2006 fiscal year budget deficit down to $248 billion. The tax cuts have stimulated the economy and are working.

In contrast to this stunning record of real achievement, the Democrats offer no real plans for the way they want to improve America or make us safer.

Instead, issues like the Mark Foley scandal have been used to smokescreen their own lack of ideas in a public debate.

The choice voters will make is whether they want higher taxes and less security by surrendering the tools used to combat terrorism or lower taxes and the continued use of tools like the Patriot Act, terrorist surveillance, terrorist interrogations and missile defense.

Consider what leading Democrats are promising if they gain control of Congress.

Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., who would lead the House tax-writing committee if Democrats win in November, said he "cannot think of one" tax cut he would renew. That agenda would result in $2.4 trillion tax increase over the next 10 years.

If Democrats take majorities in the House and Senate, the average family of four can expect to pay an average of $2,000 more in taxes.

The leader of House Democrats and the woman who would be speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said after 9/11 that she "doesn't really consider ourselves at war ... we're in a struggle against terrorism."

By opposing the Patriot Act, terrorist surveillance missile defense and even interrogating the most dangerous terrorists captured on the battlefield, Democrats are in direct opposition to the vital tools we use to fight terrorism.

Many Democrats, including the prospective House Ways and Means chairman, favor cutting off funding for the war in Iraq.

Democratic leaders have made it clear that they see investigations and impeachment as viable options should they take control of Congress. They are therefore promising to tie the hands of the president and his administration in the middle of a war.

Democrats want to reverse the president's economic policies that have led to a historically strong economy.

Enough said.
I'll add one more -

Reason #11: The Democrat's plan to destroy our right to arms. The Democrats will create and sign into law a new "Assault" Weapon Ban, if they are given the power to do so. It will be much more far reaching than Clinton's gun ban was.

It will:

-Ban ALL autoloader magazines with a capacity over 6 rounds.

-Ban shooting ranges in counties with over 200,000 population.

-Require "arsenal" licenses for owning 5 or more guns and 250 rounds of ammunition.

-Require national licensing of all gun owners.

-Ban concealed carry.

-Ban or severly restrict and license reloading equipment.

-Register all gun purchases and therefore gun owners.

-Ban posession of handguns.

These are but a few of the Democrat's - and other antigun type's goals, folks. The threat is real. This is not a game. Our right to arms is at stake.

Vote Freedom First - go to www.nrapvf.org for more information.

What's with the regurgitated talking points?

I vote on individual candidates' individual issues, and I don't drink the kool-aid of either side. This here is a big pitcher of kool-aid.

I rest my case.

Time for a 3rd party. Something that acknowledges the 2nd Amendment and is willing to repeal existing gun laws. Make machine guns legal again. But isn't afraid to provide Americans with subsidized medicine like the other 99% of the industrialized world.

Reason #1. The economy is kicking butt.

true, but the republicans aren't responsible for this. they haven't done anything to promote the economy, just like clinton didn't. in fact, the economy is doing well DESPITE the republicans.

Reason #2. Unemployment is almost nil for a major economy, and is verging on full employment.

it was almost full employment before they took over. they haven't created any jobs. why should they get credit for it?

Reason #3. The Dow is hitting record highs.

please explain how the republicans should get credit for this.

Reason #4. Wages have risen dramatically.

once again, what did the GOP do to cause this?

Reason #5. Gas prices have plunged.

woah! lowest level in more than 10 months! and just in time for the election! coincidence? nevermind the 6 years of record prices. and is he seriously crediting the republicans with the fall of gas prices?

Reason #6. Since 9/11, no terrorist attacks have occurred on U.S. soil.

i'll give you this one.

Reason #7. Productivity is surging and has grown by a strong 2.5 percent over the past four quarters, well ahead of the average productivity growth in the last 30 years.

what did the republicans do to cause this? Pass the "Raise the Productivity 2.5% Act"? please.

Reason #8. The Prescription Drug Program is working. Despite dire predictions that most seniors would refrain from signing up to the new Medicare prescription benefits program, fully 75 percent of all those on Medicare have enrolled, and the overwhelming majority say they are happy with the program.

Of course it's working. why wouldn't seniors sign up to have everyone give them free drugs? why wouldn't they be happy with the largest entitlement/handout/giveaway in history?

Reason #9. Bush has kept his promise of naming conservative judges.

it remains to be seen how roberts will vote. same with alito.

Reason #10. The deficit has been cut in half three years ahead of the president's 2009 goal, with the 2006 fiscal year budget deficit down to $248 billion. The tax cuts have stimulated the economy and are working.

yeah, and it would have been completely eliminated and well into surplus territory if bush wasn't spending our money at rates not seen since WWII. way to go.

here's a couple more reasons to vote R:

1. ashcroft/gonzales/bush's relentless pursuit of more executive powers
2. authoring a non-binding document supporting individual right view of the 2A makes up for wiping their collective asses with the rest of the constitution
3. bush's "character" pandering to unions by creating steel tarrifs
4. bush's use of the "Crack-addled Rhesus Monkey Doctrine" in the middle-east
5. while sticking to the "Two-thumbs up my Bunghole Doctrine" in North Korea
edit: 6. how could i forget partnering with mexico in the WAR ON TERRAR!!!1! by letting anyone across the border after dark, and persecuting government officials who attempt to discover an illegal and turn them into INS? yeah, #6 deserves two votes all by itself

May we have a source for the shopping list in reason #11, please?

Speculative fear, misinformation and mass psychosis bordering on hysteria.
Really, the Dems have bigger fish to fry. The country is in a barrel approaching a waterfall and Dubya thinks it will all be just fine because he invested in the rapture.
I'm here for the long haul, I believe in life on this planet and no fratboy village idiot and his puppetmasters that think the world is ending in our lifetime deserve to be running the show.

Manedwolf,
With all due respect, your comment is more of a talking point than the reality given you in the original post. What you have said is that you would really rather drink the kool aid of a singular legislator wannabe than looking at the big picture. The problem with politics today is that the individual legislator, in the end, gets ground up by the two party sysem and your vote or support is wasted.

The only hope for America is that most of the the middle class stops buying into the propaganda of the political class and begins to get involved in the process starting at the grass roots level in the community where you live. By this I don't mean going to the polls and wasting your vote by voting libertarian or whatever marginal group that gets on the ballot. What I mean is that YOU get in involved in your community and stand for what is right. That means school boards, zoning boards, fire departments, township positions, county positions, villages, towns etc. Changes start at the bottom and work their way up, not the other way around.

Those items are taken directly from Sen. Ted Kennedy and Howard Metzenbaum's "Brady II" Bill in 1994 (S.1878 and H.R. 3292). This was the legislation the Democrats planned to pursue before they were swept out of power in 1994.

Reason #6. Since 9/11, no terrorist attacks have occurred on U.S. soil.

I'm pretty sure this is a logical fallacy of some sort. Just because there haven't been any attacks doesn't necessarily mean the Republicans are responsible for preventing any attacks.

well, there have actually been a number of high-profile terrorist attacks that have been foiled since 9/11, not just here, but in Britain.

I vote on individual candidates' individual issues, and I don't drink the kool-aid of either side. This here is a big pitcher of kool-aid.

I like to think I do as well. The problem is national politics come into play for any and all national seats (President, Senate, and House). So, you need to decide based on national issues and not just if you like the candidate.

I almost always vote for the candidate in state and local elections. I really don't care what party they are part of.

Where I live (TN), there is a heated senate race between Bob Corker (R) and Harold Ford (D). Up until the time Ford made the decision to run for the senate spot to be vacated by Bill Frist, he was very liberal. Corker on the other hand is pretty conservative. But he does like to spend other people's money. Ford, like Hillary Clinton, has been sucessful in re-making his public image. He is running a good race. But, ultimately HE will likely not support the legislation that I support and he will support gun control regardless of what he says now. He will vote as all junior senators do, with the party and the party is controlled by liberals with a hidden anti-gun socialistic agenda. The agenda is still there and its just waiting for the right moment to re-emerge with a slightly different set of clothes. Now the big city mayors are pushing for more gun control. I'm voting for the party on this one and not the candidate.

I think everyone needs to take a hard look at their candidate and vote.

Thank you Mr. Roberts - you beat me to it. The antigun wish list I cite in my point #11 is not something I just made up. It is not paranoia from a bunch of militia types. This is for real.

It is but a partial list of the stated goals of Kenndey, Schumer, Clinton, Obama, Feinstein, Pelosi and other Democrat antigun bigots who currently sit in Congress. It comes straight from their own mouths.

As I said above, go to www.nrapvf.org to find out who our true progun allies are in this upcoming election - And PLEASE vote for them!

Our right to arms hangs in the balance. There is no denying this fact.

So what do you attribute it to, chance? *Deleted line that appeared snarky after re-reading it*

Prior to 9/11 we had the WTC bombing, the embassy bombings, and the USS Cole. That's roughly one every 2 years. It's been quiet for 5. How do you explain it?

I'm no Bush lover and I have some real problems with some of his methods, but I find it hard to say it's complete coincidence when we know that without a doubt the terrorists want nothing more than to hit us again.

Maybe the war in Afghanistan and Iraq is throwing a monkey wrench in their time-lines for attack, but I think that's what they are intended to do.

Regardless there have been plots discovered and stopped here in the US. So right, wrong, or indifferent, their methods are working.

Politics, don't you just love it. When the economy was doing well, it was because of the Democrats. When it was doing poorly, it was because of the Republicans. These things never change. You can bury your head in the sand and vote Democrat, but the economy is doing better because of the tax cuts. Remember Bill Clinton raised taxes and used the class issue to do it... those dirty rich people should pay more taxes... always a percent when they talk about it, but the reality is the rich have always paid more taxes. For me, I am leaning toward a flat tax for everyone. Everyone should pay taxes on their income. The rich will still pay the lion's share of the total taxes collected.

No significant terror related attacks in the US.... same deal. It can't be because of things done by that terrible George Bush that has helped to identfy terrorists before they have the opportunity to do their deeds. It must just be luck.

Sorry for the rant....

Ah, yes - the genius of the Democrats...

Democrat statement #1: "Bush is a stupid, illiterate idiot."

Democrat statement #2: "Bush is a lying, calculating, diabolical, evil genius."

Well, which is it???

I guess it depends on which day of the week it is... Or maybe which Democrat you are talking to.

When the economy was doing well, it was because of the Democrats. When it was doing poorly, it was because of the Republicans.

I love hearing about the "Bush Recession" when the economy was tanking before he was even elected. Oh yea and he planned and executed 9/11 so that damage to the economy was his fault too.

Now the complete turn around in 5 years..... COMPLETE COINCIDENCE!! In fact the tax cuts have had no positive effects at all and need to repealed immediately. Take more of my money away!! Just like I can't be trusted with my guns, I can't be trusted with my money.

Well, which is it???

I guess it depends on which day of the week it is... Or maybe which Democrat you are talking to.

The Bush hatred has gotten so bad that people can't give him or his party credit for anything that has gone right and blame him and them for everything bad no matter how ridiculous or contradictory a yarn they have to spin to convince themselves of it.

Let me just say this about the Democratic Mafia and the Republican Mafia:

Both parties are cut throat gangsters who only wish to quench their own thirst for power. Neither party comes even remotely close to representing America- or at least the same American people that whooped the Indians and settled this land.

Our politicians are mostly White Males. But when’s the last time any of them done anything to look out for white people or the rights of males/fathers? I see one more government funded minority rights group after another springing up. I see one more feminist law after another being put into effect or strengthened. It doesn’t matter what the race, sex, sexual identity, or religion of our politicians are: they do not care about America; they care about the money in their pockets.

Reason #5. Gas prices have plunged.
Am I to take seriously that gas prices have decreased dramatically!? I could have sworn a few years ago gasoline and kerosene were less than half of what it is now.

Reason #4. Wages have risen dramatically.
Wages have gone up? That’s because the value of our Federal Reserve Notes have gone down. McDonald’s is forced to pay 15% more to their employees; and they’ll just charge 15% more for their food.

Reason #6. Since 9/11, no terrorist attacks have occurred on U.S. soil.
And we all have the unconstitutional Patriot Act to thank? Hey had a brainstorm of an idea; if we just took away gun ownership rights it would help reduce a terrorists chances of getting a gun once he got here. And of course we need to start dealing with potential domestic terrorists like religious cults, and white supremacists organizations, Waco and Ruby Ridge style. And most importantly, we need to extend the Patriot Act to allow law enforcement to arrest website owners for saying bad things about the government (That would be Terror Speech). If Hate Speech leads to violence against people, than Anti-Government Speech must lead to domestic terrorism.

Reason #10. The deficit has been cut in half three years ahead of the president's 2009 goal,
Now how in the hell that is possible with this trillion dollar war is beyond me.

What is either party doing about this Mexican invasion? I believe each party’s political leaders are doing what they can to take away a citizens right to safe guard their home land. It’s only a matter of time before a law is passed stating that if you see an Illegal Mexican crossing our boarder, and you didn’t lend them a hand, and they died or became injured, you are going to be held liable. Some of you might laugh but I see it happening.

“This criminal invading our country was lost and dying of thirst, and all you done was video tape him and call boarder patrol. This human being then died of thirst! And you with a gallon of water offered no help! That’s Manslaughter!”

The Democratic cult tells the people “We must let these invaders poor into our country by the millions, give them the right to vote, and give them an affirmative action head start on employment. It’s the humane thing to do. It’s the warm fuzzy friendly UN one world government thing to do. To keep them out is xenophobia, it’s racist, it’s Hate, and you’re a Hitler worshiping Nazi!”

The Republican cult tells us “We must allow these non-English speaking foreign invaders to flood our country, and then grant them citizenship and special work programs because it’s the economical thing to do.” And then they whip out thirty pages of doctored statistics allegedly proving how the average Joe and Jill Sixpack will benefit by having cheaper toys to buy.

It has been said that the Democrats will wreck this nation at 90 MPH, and that the republicans will wreck it at 50 MPH. Yup, that sounds about right.

In regards to the republicans securing our right of gun ownership- bolder dash! Republican cult followers tend to like guns, just a little more so than the liberal cultists. And so not putting quite as many restrictions on our second amendment right, is just their angle for the day. The actual politicians themselves don’t give a crap about guns. They can own any gun they want. They will buy that gun on our tax money. So to hell with principals and what the people want/need. The very second they see more profit in being anti-gun, they will all switch hats to being pro gun control.

As I said, the republicans aren’t securing our right to bear arms; they are simply taking away our right to bear arms a little slower than the Democrats.

If we want to secure our first and second amendment rights, we will not do this by sitting on our butts and then casting a vote on election day. We must take to the streets and protest. We must demonstrate, and counter demonstrate!

In a democracy, it is the loudest group of crybabies that get what they want. If we want to hold on to our guns, we must out cry and whine the current crop of crybabies.

Democratic citizens that posess a Liberal cult mentality might care about this issue or that issue, but the politicians representing them or anybody only care about power. Remember that.

Politicians inherently kiss the asses of anyone that promises to give them a vote in exchange for their demands. We must unite and force the politicians of both parties to try out doing each other in an ass kissing contest to kiss our asses.

Why would anyone vote Republican? How about the fact that in the last presidential election, the GOP got 50.7% of the votes and the Dems got 48.3% of the vote [figures are votes for president]. Together, that's 99% of the vote. On a presidential election, nonetheless, when turnout is the highest. A candidate from one of these parties will win all or virtually all of the races in Nov. The underworld will freeze over before a third party has any meaningful presence in either house of Congress.

Which party would you rather have in power? I want the Dems to keep losing. If they lose long enough, eventually they'll either go farther left (which - in the short term at least - is not a viable strategy) or become more moderate, which is better for us.

Why do I say vote republican? In the house the answer to that is one word,
Pelosi. If the Dumbs take over the house this flaming liberal socialist will be the house speaker. That makes her 3rd in line for the presidency. That alone is scary enough but even if she never ascends to the throne all of the anti
freedom legislation she will sprout like mushrooms will be mind boggling. She will be able to effectively thwart any efforts made to rollback gun laws, she will block any efforts to control our borders and she will actively seek to make the US subservient to the UN.

The same story exists in the senate. If we lose that to the Dimocrats Harry 2 faced Reid will be the Senate leader. If the GOP loses the senate we will not see a gun friendly judge appointed, ever! Yes the GOP is not the best but we'll have hell to pay if we lose congress to the communists oops Democrats.

Do I wish for a third option? Hell yes but right now we have no other option that has even a remote chance of succeeding in controlling congress. Like it or not for the forseeable future its either the GOP or
communism.

I'm actually less worried about Harry Reid as Senate Majority leader. His voting record on guns is decent compared to most Democrats. What worries me is a Sen. Leahy or Sen. Kennedy being Chairman of the Senate Judiciary (the committee that oversees all gun legislation).

The House would be even worse as you note - Pelosi would be Speaker of the House, third from the Presidency. Bart Conyers (the only House member still working who voted for the 1968 Gun Control Act) would be the House Judiciary chairman.

These things are not good news for RKBA.

Quote:Reason #10. The deficit has been cut in half three years ahead of the president's 2009 goal,

Easy. The deficit is the dollar amount that was spent that exceeds the sum of all revenues for one fiscal year. We are not overspending as much as we were in the past. But we are still overspending.

Its like digging yourself into a hole. We've reduced the amount of dirt moved this year, but we are still making the hole deeper.

Deficit is NOT the national debt. THAT continues to grow without end. :uhoh:

What is either party doing about this Mexican invasion?
I can tell you in four little words.

Me case, su casa.

Sadly here on THR we've not the smiley that properly embodies my reaction to THAT great stinking load of dren. So this will have to suffice. :fire: ^ 10

Hmmm..shall I drink the red Kool-Aid or the blue? Either choice apparently leads to ruin, though the road traveled is different for each.

Maybe I'll just write in Cthulhu and be done with it.

People vote their pocketbooks, or wallets, the old adage goes.
....
Reason #3. The Dow is hitting record highs. In the past few days, the Dow climbed above 12,000 for the first time in the history of the stock market, thus increasing the value of countless pension and 401(k) that funds many Americans rely on for their retirement years.

Too bad Americans can't balance their pocketbooks. Had the Dow kept up
with inflation after its record high years back, wouldn't it now be
around 15,000? Likewise, hasn't the US$ been losing value against other
currencies....let me hit some major currency exchange charts over the last
five years on a different browser window.....well, yes it has become weaker.....

So record high dow increasing the value of pensions in US funds would not
seem to be the case at all. Value has not kept up with inflation.

As far as all the jobs points....sorry, but I live in the midwest and I've seen
the automaker fallout begin to hit. Prior to that, I've seen plenty of $20/hr
jobs replaced by lower paying jobs.

There are plenty of ppl here who would disagree with me all day long about
outsourcing jobs overseas and how our economy is being supported by
consumer credit rather than real production. Unless you have your house,
cars, and credit cards paid off and no bank loans, you don't have a
leg to stand on. The bank owns your crutches. PM me a copy of your
paid off mortgage and this can serve as your debate credentials. Otherwise,
you are a consumer debt slave and your "points" serve your credit master.

I am an American citizen who will debate with a citizen, not a consumer.
Try not to take that personally, because it isn't meant against an individual.
I am trying to get you to see a point. A citizen is a term that denotes a certain
level of responsibility and respect. A consumer sounds like sheep grazing.
It's meant to. Don't get mad at me for it --the government and big business
have been calling people "consumers" for years. Does that make anyone mad
here? Good. I'm using some tough love to shake you from your credit
addiction --the one you're a slave to. When you're not a slave, you can
become a citizen again and make this nation strong.

Reason #9. Bush has kept his promise of naming conservative judges. He has named two conservative justices to the Supreme Court, Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito.

CINOs. When R v. W gets reversed, I'll believe that "conservative" judges
have been appointed. I don't want to get into a religious argument w/ ppl,
but I guess we might have different definitions of what are considered
"conservative" causes nowadays. So who re-defined the conservative cause?
It doesn't match the one I remember, nor the GOP platform. It would seem
a lot of things have been pulled to the left, the center at best.

I am not carrying any water for the Democrats. I dont like them much. They want to take away my guns, tax me to death and fill the country with immigrants. However, that piece was so full of stuff and nonsense, I don't know where to start.

#1 With the internationalization of commerce, a booming stock market means little to all but the filthy rich.

#2 That author must be joking about employment. Almost all of the new jobs are slave wage jobs. The new jobs entail either "Welcome to Wal-Mart" or "Do you want fries with that."

#3 We really don't know if the massive illegal wiretapping has saved us from a terrorist attack. What? just because the frat-boy-in-chief said so? Much of it could have been done legally.

#4 The frat-boy's silly war is breaking the country financially. Frat-boy may have to cut-and -run eventually anyway, not for military reasons, but due to the accountants.
