Yesterday, June 19th, Representative Scott Gunderson introduced the long-awaited concealed carry bill.

Before the bill can be assigned a number, it must be circulated by Representative Gunderson for co-sponsors. You can help Representative Gunderson by contacting your state representative and urging him/her to support Representative Gunderson's concealed carry bill. If you don't know who your state legislators are, you can go to http://www.legis.state.wi.us/waml to find out. If your friends don't have access to the internet, they can call 1-800-362-9472 between the hours of 8:45 am and 4:45 pm during the week to find our who their legislators are.

While legislative action on the bill will likely not begin until August or September, it's important that we start applying pressure right now.

The most effective way to make an impression on your legislators is to write them. Phone calls are ok, but it's the written letter that really carries weight. Emails are next to worthless for this purpose.

Remember, it's equally important that you contact your state senator as well as your state representative. Let your senator know that you want him/her to support concealed carry.

Once the bill has been assigned a number, the text of it will be available on our site at http://www.wisconsinconcealedcarry.com .

Please forward this to every gun owner you know.

Go WI!

When the push was on in the Minnesota Senate, I hand wrote letters to my Senator, and followed it up with a phone call. When I talked to my Senator, she made the comment that they don't get too many hand written letters anymore, so I guess I did get her attention on my opinion of shall issue in Minnesota. Yes, I had sent e-mails too, but the letter got noticed.

Good going, Cobb. Just this afternoon I sent this email to a few thousand addresses that our group has in its database.

And I received many emails back that basically were "CC" copies of the emails that the individuals had sent to their legislators. How much more clear can we make it: write if at all possible, call if you can't write, but don't use email?! :banghead:

We in Minnesota have to keep fighting to keep our shall issue. The liberal sheeples are trying their best to spread the doom and gloom that hasn't happened in 30+ other states, and those facts won't get in their way.
Hopefully Wisconsin can get the job done too. My Inlaws are in Wisconsin, so a reciprocal CCW between MN and WI would be another plus for me and family.

Cobb

The way the proposed bill is written, Wisconsin would recognize any other state permits, so you'd be set when visiting the in-laws.
(This post is a shameless BTT. Cheeseheads, stop reading this and GO WRITE YOUR REPS!!)

Tommytrauma, there may be more good news ahead. As you probably know, there's two cases before the state supreme court challenging the constitutionality of the current prohibition against concealed carry. A decision in the cases has been awaited since oral arguments last November. The court goes out of session this coming Monday.

I spoke to the clerk of the court yesterday, and she said that there are still forty cases in which decisions have yet to be issued, and that all of them would be issued by the second week of July. This probably has to do with Justice Bablitch retiring at the end of this session.

The buzz in Madison is that the court is going to decide very strongly in our favor.

So, another shameless plug: watch our group's website at http://www.wisconsinconcealedcarry.com . As soon as the decision is released, we'll have it up there, and will be sending out email alerts.

I don't know why--and I hope it isn't just an irrational pipe dream--but my gut is telling me that this decision could be huge.

Actually it's 'On Wisconsin' and 'Go Michigan'.

On, Wisconsin!
Written by J. S. Hubbard and Charles D. Rosa
Composed by William T. Purdy

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Grand old badger state!
We, thy loyal sons and daughters,
Hail thee, good and great.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Champion of the right,
"Forward", our motto
God will give thee might!"
