Holy moly! I have watched this guy's videos before. This was a good review. I suck a sharpening knives. I have the Lansky system and do not like it. The little butterfly screws that hold the rod will come loose all too easily.
I have the Gatco system that is similar to the Lansky and my main problem was that the screws get in the way of sharpening at any angle below about 20*.

On the Lansky, and you could see this in the video, two sharp of an angle can result in the stone riding up on the clamp that holds the blade. You can actually see him repeatedly hitting the corners starting at 4:48.
^^^ Yep. Same problem I had with the Gatco.

I think I spent $600 way back when on a WE system, and have never regretted it.

I had those issues using the Lansky as well. Since I had it and beveling a new edge using that was slow, I made this up to use on the 2x72" belt grinder.
I'm still having a problem imagining a knife that needs to be sharper than what the Ken Onion dealio will do for you in a jiffy.
I just don't like spending hours and hours sharpening by hand. Free hand or guided. I can do either but just don't anymore. Edit: once in a blue moon.
