Wife wants to trade her G26 for a 1991A1

OK, all you Glock guys and 1911 guys . . . after firing a 1911 for the first time a couple of years ago, my wife has fallen in love with the 1911 concept. She's a decent shot with her Glock, but she tore the X-ring out of the target with the 1911. She's extremely competent and an excellent shooter, so I'm satisfied that she can handle one safely and well.

She REALLY likes the Commander-sized Colt 1991A1 (specifically)--not just any commander-sized 1911, but THAT one. Here's my question--since these things are no longer in production, what is a fair price for one? Should we just haunt gun shows looking for one, or can a dealer order them from somewhere?

Second question--finances are tight, so my wife wants to finance this by selling/trading her Glock. How much should she ask for a Glock 26 in excellent condition (~500 rounds through it?) with Trijicon sights (1997), a new Gould & Goodrich paddle holster, the standard 2 10-rounders, and a preban 15-rd Glock 19 magazine? We have the original box, all instructions, etc. (We really haven't a clue.)

Thanks for the help!!

If you want to get maximum coin out of it, sell it on TFL or privately outright. The gun shop will offer you maybe $300-350 on that gun if you use it for a trade.

Around here, a G26 with night sights and a G19 pre-ban would be worth perhaps $450-500. The G19 magazine alone is worth $70-ish, and the gun with night sights around $400.

You can find 1991A1s on gunbroker.com, but that would add FFL and shipping fees to the total. They seem to run around $500.

I have seen at least one blued "new rollmark" 1991a1 Commander, so they do exist. The stainless "XSE model is a little more common. Either version shoots terrific.

Which Commander-sized 1991A1 are you talking about?

The basic no-frills Commander is still in production, they just changed the rollmark from "1991A1" to "Commander Model".

Do not Buy the SA Champion. They are nice guns but They dont shoot the same as a Commander. That little .25 inches of barrel does make a difference in the feel of recoil.

Lots of Parkerized 1991a1 Commanders still out there on distributors shelves. I tried to find a New Roll Marked blued Commander and nobody had one, but they were all willing to deal on an Old Roll Marked Parkerized ones.
