My wifes Grandpa was a Bozeman Mt city cop. First pic is his 47 38/44. Second is a family passdown 51 Colt.

Beauts. It's great having an old gun with the history attached. I recently came across a pre model 10 that was owned by a retired LEO from Nassau Co PD here in New York for 250. Brought my eyes to tears. I didn't buy the gun as I'm saving for an AR. I would have loved to have that old boy in my collection. The blueing was perfectly worn from holster wear and it was meticulously kept. My wife would have had no quams with me getting the gun. However here in NYS the paperwork is a pain in the arse.

Hello friends and neighbors // Congrats on the fine revolvers being kept in the family for so long.

The 1851 looks outstanding, screws are perfect and it even looks to have the original wedge!
Do the numbers match?
There appears to be battle scene engraving still on the cylinder, is this so?.

Take care of them! Priceless history and heritage.

We got some from both sides and now that I am a Grandpa my old Ruger Police service Six will join the crowd.

I am the place the family on both sides deposits guns because I am a collector not a seller. I only sell/trade modern guns that I have bought never a gun that has been passed down.
The 51 numbers do not match but the numbers are from a couple year period. Grip frame and cylinder 70xxx. Barrel 81xxx. I am just spouting new information here as I have never held a gun of this age before so feel free to correct at any time. I am more of a this century revolver/Glock guy.
I had never held a 38/44 before and wow, nice gun.

Thanks guys.

Darrell
