I don’t know how I did it but finally after 16 years of marriage I somehow got my wife to shoot a little last year. I don’t know if she decided one day she wanted to learn or if she wanted the challenge but early this summer I took her out and let her shoot several different pistols. My brother had a couple to have her try too. She liked the Ruger P89 (9mm) but she said it was so big and heavy. Long story short she saw a picture of a Sig Mosquito Pink Lady and fell in love with it. She then found out it is a .22 and could not take her CHL with it, she decided she wanted something bigger.

A few weeks ago I took her to the gun show in Houston and let her fondle all the different pistols and soon found that she was really undecided on what she wanted. It really had to be an accessory…but a deadly accessory. She loved the look of some of the custom 1911’s with the “pretty” grips but she is not real comfortable with .45. She kind of liked the little .380 pistols but thought they were too small. Had her try a XD but she didn’t like the safety built into the back of the grip…I know tried to explain but didn’t matter she didn’t like it and you are not talking her into liking it. Since I love my Glock 21 I had her try one of the concealed Glocks but she hated how all her fingers would not wrap around the grip….that’s is my complaint too but I didn’t tell her that first. So had her try a Glock 19 which is a midsized 9mm and she really loved it....but….”it’s black and has no bling!” After trying very hard not to roll my eyes again I told her we could duracoat it.

Well we found the http://gripreductions.com/ booth at the gun show and they had a couple Glock’s that were cerakote. She said one of the pistols done in pink and proceeded to talk to Dale Hunnicutt about pricing and time. She bought her pistol and dropped it off with Dale….and of course he talked her into the GLITTER finish too! We got it back a week later and I must admit that it is pretty. And yes, the glitter does add a rough texture so she has a little more grip to the slide.

You should have seen her face when she saw it the first time...it was priceless. You should have heard all the women that have talked about how much they love it and want one too. While it does bother me that I feel she defaced a perfectly good Glock, she loves it and loves to shoot it. She put about 150 rounds through it over the weekend and is already wanting to go shoot some more! Kind of hard to argue that. Now she is saving for her CHL and really wants a pink AR! I am just happy to see her armed!

I actually am pretty pleasantly surprised by the look of it, they did a great job.

Cool that she's starting to get involved with your hobby too.

While pink wouldn't be my choice, I think it's very cool. I wonder if Mr. Hunnicutt can do one like this but in a dark grey. Hmm...

If something like this encourages CCW among women, I'm all for it.

Lol, as long as she's shooting. I'm trying to help my friend buy her first handgun, and it's an uphill battle because she insists on something "cute" that she can buy matching accessories for...

For the record, when I say accessories I don't mean holsters, etc. I mean shoes, clothes, purses...

Looks great :). I'm always a fan of dressing up the guns some.

Being a Clemson alumni/fan, I've been considering having my M&P done up with a purple frame and orange backstrap (with a hard-chromed slide). Anything that makes them look a little less like drab boring clones of each other is a good thing in my book :).

The logical next step is seeing if you can talk her into a "Hello Kitty" AR-15.

only problem is if you have to shoot somebody,it's something a witness can fixate on

If it's a justified shooting then that may be a good thing. Witnesses help to confirm what happened.

That's assuming that this Glock will be carried at all though. Many people forget that there is a world of shooting activities that don't involve defensive scenarios. I know that the M&P I mentioned as possibly dressing up for example is for USPSA competition only (I carry, but with other guns).

While it does bother me that I feel she defaced a perfectly good Glock,

Kinda hard to "deface" a Glock. :D

In this case it's a double win. The gun actually looks kinda cool and your wife is interested in your hobby.

Hope you reload. Looks like your wife burns through 9mm like mine does!

Thats awesome. My wife's is not pink but she is the same way. Shoots very well and glad she is willing to shot. Makes it a lot easier for me to enjoy the sport and feel better she is protecting herself and our daughters when I am not around.

That is one hideous gun! Not that Glocks normally win beauty contests... But it is not my gun, it is your wife's. If she likes it, and more importantly, likes shooting it, then It was a good investment on your part!

How tough is that finish? I would not mind a bit 'o bling on my Glock. Not pink... :what:

Nice photo of the gun. Now let's have a photo of your wife. If she's a Texan she has to be a nice looking woman.

Hello all,
"you can't deface a Glock. Thems is ugly to the bone."

That reminds me of a saying, :Beauty is only skin deep but ugly is to the bone, beauty is transitory but ugly holds it's own.

On American Guns a woman came into the shop and wanted a Pink 1911, and a CW class. They presented the gun to her at the class and it looks good.:D

I want a colored gun but maybe not that color.

Wow! Defaced... Nah, it is still a Glock, just in drag.
The point of the exercise is not for you to look cool but to get your wife to shoot & carry.
Whatever floats their boat. As you have demonstrated, you can't argue with a woman. Especially if she is your wife.
