Will 22 short cycle a Browning Buckmark Pistol?

Even if there was enough powder to work the slide, the pistol is not designed to feed that cartridge properly.

I have at times gotten an older model of browning pistol to function with longs. Feeding and loading the magazines was the issue.

There are some semi-auto rimfire pistols that are/were made to work with shorts. I don't think any of them are still in production, though. Hi-Standard made some target pistols in .22 short, and Beretta made the Minx, which is the .22 short version of the 950 Jetfire.

If noise is the issue I think they make some LR versions of CB Shorts. I believe the LR versions do actually have some powder and not just priming compound. They wouldn't cycle the pistol but you could manually cycle it.

The CCI quiet .22 will not cycle any of my model 41 pistols or my ruger mks. I have not yet tried it in my buckmarks. I consider it revolver only ammo. By the way it is not any quieter for me than CCI SV. Any semi auto I have ever seen that cycle shorts was purpose built for them and uses a special magazine.

Thanks for constructive response. Lots of info here.

Astral 22 short! Woah! That's cool.

Can you hit anything with it? Did they offer a longer slide version? (Probably could not because slide weight could be an issue)

Astra did make a long barrel version of the Cub called the "Camper" - I believe the only difference was the barrel was 4" instead of 2". I'd love to have just the barrel so I could swap mine back and forth.

The Cub I picked up recently is really cool (looks identical to Sgt. Stiglitz's) - I even got it to cycle with .22 short CBs! Still a bit loud, but no recoil at all. I probably should pick up a new recoil spring from Wolff gunsprings (same as the Colt Jr.), as that might be an indicator of the current one being a little worn.
