Will a .30 carbine penetrate commie winter clothing?

A friend of mine once told me of having his platoon leader killed as he shot an Italian soldier with his M1 Carbine. The soldier was wearing a heavy wool overcoat, and while the bullet did penetrate, the Italian fired, and killed, the lieutenant. My friend stopped the Italian soldier with his M1 Rifle.

There was some truth to the 30 carbine failing to penetrate NO winter clothing. This was because DOS had had the ammo loaded with a ball powder that worked okay in normal testing but just made it out of the barrel in the 20 or 30 below temperatures in Korea. After this was discovered they changed the powder so it worked at the extreme low temperatures. If you want to duplicate this load some 30 carbine with something like W296 and a standard primer at 30 below. This issue came up a few years ago here and someone posted the answer I just gave. If you Google a bit you can find this explanation on the internet.

Jim Cirillo loved the 30 carbine as a stake out gun. He said with fmj it just created ice pick wounds but with a soft point or jhp it made certain body parts explode like watermelons. There are those stories about the 30 carbine lacking stopping power. There are also verified accounts of bad guys taking multiple hits from 45 ACP, 00 buck, 3006, and just about every "proven man stopper" and not only not stopping but surviving. All about shot placement.

I absolutely concur. There is no guarantee any round will do anything. My unit called in an air strike in Afghanistan, and a A-10 hosed some bad guys, one ran away and was capturred in the nearest village with a 30mm hole through his shoulder. No guarantees.

IF you plan on getting really old =

If you are expecting to live till OLD age,you know where you get a bit fragile.

then this carbine will be your BEST bet to protect your house.

I see it better and easier to shoot than a handgun or shotgun.

Accurate and reliable under well maintained circumstances.

I am not that old ----- yet,but hope to get there someday.

So I have a couple of them with decent expanding rounds.

Thanks for the videa.

I used to work on an armored car before I was an LEO.

We KNEW the M-1 carbine could defeat the armor of our trucks.
