Will AR10 mags work in the M14?

Hi all, I was at a garage sale the other day and ran across 2 AR10 mags for $20, one an Armalite 10rnd and the other looks like a converted USGI M14 20rnd. By the title my question is obvious but by the laws of the 1994 ban I know the mags had to work in both rifles. But I have also read about people having to hold AR10 mags in the M14. Can someone set this story straight please.

It depend on if the lug on the back of the back of the magazine was completely removed or not. If it was, it won't lock into the M14. I think all the factory AR10 magazines will not work in the M14

If they have the lug on the top rear they well work in the M1A/M14 (top mag) The bottom mag is the newer GenII ArmaLite AR-10B magazine.

The early M14 mags converted to AR-10 mags have extra value in ban states.

Darn neither have a lug, I plan on getting a m14 hopefully sometime in the next year, so I was hoping these mages would work.

AR10 mags cost more than M14 mags anyway, I'm sure you could find someone willing to trade straight up.
