I am watching the debates. Obama said he would like to get the guns used by our military off of the streets and supports some anti-gun legislation. My question is...if Obama passed an assault weapons ban, will I have to turn over my AR-15 to the ATF or something? Would I be compensated? What is the story?

I'm afraid the THR's crystal ball is offline at the moment.

There's really nothing to say until some legislation has actually been introduced.

No, our weapons are not the military weapons. Either way you would doubt you would lose your rifle. They both said automatic weapons, but who knows what they mean. The previous AWB did not outlaw the rifles that we had, but stopped new productions. Either way too many would oppose this no matter who ever put it on the table. We need to stick by our representatives and make our voices heard. Write, call, email your local and state representatives.

Good advice

Youre probably right. I live in Oklahoma, no way we would be in trouble here. Just wondering what the rest of you think

you should be grandfathered in IF such a law is passed. I think that the likely hood of having to turn in your AR 15 is quite slim even such a bill should pass. Sen Feinstein admited that during the previous AWB that the votes for outright confication weren't there. IIRC both Harry Reid and Johnn Boenher said any anti gun bill would be DOA under their watch.

jog has the answer right you never know what any new law means until someone starts one. if it is a carbon copy of the past awb your gun will be grandfathered in, but that is a big if.

Queen of Thunder has it right. This isn't about a party is is about a natural born right. We need to stand strong as gun owners, not as Republicans,Democrats or Independents.. We need to be PRO...
