You are VERY correct
As much as we want to have a place of "trust" clicking links blindly is a no-no (I am in a way connected with a cybercrime organization - cant say more) and one of the worst things you can do is blindly click links.
If someone says this is a youtube video on how to strip a Marlin 60, which one is real , which one is bogus ?
Field strip a Marlin 60
Field strip a Marlin 60
If you picked the first one without CLICKING to find out you understand. the easiest way is to let your cursor hover over the link....in this case if it shows you are going to a youtube video, you are safe. But the second one did not have a link to youtube so should be suspect.
Also beware of links that have the valid site in the name but are NOT the valid side...example
if the link starts with
""https://www.youtube.com""
You are safe
but if it was something like
""https://www.ent.youtube.com""
BEWARE..that is someone trying to fool you.
Also, I personally use TrendMicro...with it turned on, it verifies ALL links before hand with a check mark...(no affiliation to TrendMicro)
So ...summary...we should trust the links here posted by the good people..but it never hurts to check if the "safety is on"...lol
