Will the 7615 make a comeback?

True, but the 7600 and 870 share many design features and even some parts. If you are familiar with the 870, the 7600 works exactly the same.

There is a good chance it will become a popular rifle. I'd buy one in 308. I'd like to see someone make reliable 10 round magazines for it in addition to the factory 4 round mags.

Well, since the 760/740 series were reportedly based off the 20ga 870 frame dimensions, I think it's safe to declare the lineage to be 870 based.

The issue with the 7615 was predominantly cost; nobody wanted to pay $700 for it at a time when cheap ARs could be had for $800. They're also heavy as heck for what they are; it needs to lose at least 24oz to be a viable intermediate-chambering carbine.

If you are familiar with the 870, the 7600 works exactly the same.

Only insofar as being a pump action firearm. The 7600 feeds from a box magazine, so there is no elevator mechanism. It also uses a rotating bolt with a rigid bolt carrier, as opposed to the floating bolt group of the 870 that locks a single lug into a recess in the top of the barrel extension.

There are similarities, but implying that frame dimensions and styling = based on is like saying the M700 is based on a Carcano.

I had one and the action was STIFF. It was a great little pack rifle and I really liked it but it didn't get much shooting time so I cut it loose. There's one on GB now and I think it was up to $650 last I saw.. I sold mine almost 2 years ago for $600.

In regard to your original post, if Feinstein's "proposed bill" passes based on what I have read this rifle would be banned as well because it uses removable magazines, that's the catch-all even for pumps, bolts and lever guns. Won't really know until something is actually submitted.

FWIW, a big dealer over in PA contracted 200 or 300 of these with laminated stocks and removable AR-10 mags in 308. They were REALLY nice but were selling for close to $1000.

A 20 guage 870 stock and trigger group will interchange with a 7600 and possibly other parts. Others have said the receiver is the same as a 20 guage 870. I don't know for sure about that, but the safety and bolt release are in the same place and operate exactly the same. Sure the bolt and magazine are different to accomodate pointed bullets and higher pressure. But if someone already owns an 870 the operation and handling will already be 2nd nature.

Any word on whether this is making a comeback?
why in the world would such a gun become desirable?

If this is another "coming ban prediction" silliness thread, I think home-made Sten and Grease guns will become more popular

Nope. It's a modified 7600 rifle; it's not built on a shotgun receiver.

Actually it shares about as little with the 7600 as it does the 20g 870

The action is shorter than the 7600 and the only interchangeable parts are the same parts the 7600 can share with a 20g 870.

Yes its based on a 20g 870 reciever unlike the 7600 wich uses its own unique narrow 12 GA sized reciever.

This pic illustrates how different the 7615 is from a 7600 with the 30-06 round pictured on a 7615 frame
