Will the DPMS Sportical suit me

Ok,

My AK is my primary SHTF choice. I have many freinds shooting .223 and would like to at least own a .223/5.56 rifle. I don't intend on putting thousands of rounds per year thru this, however I do want a dependable rifle. I have narrowed it down to the DPMS Sportical for $635 or the Stag Model 1 for $835. Your opinions?? My fear is I am ging yo get the Sportical and then wish I had bought the stag. I plan on throwing an optic on this.

Is the stag worth the xtra $200 here?

I've never regretted any of the DPMS rifles, parts, uppers, or anything else I've bought. They are good guns.

Both are good guns and would be able to do what you need need them to do. If its going to spend alot of time sitting you could save yourself 200 bucks and get the DPMS.

where'd you find a sportical for $635?

from what I understand the sportical lower is the same as all lowers.
the upper lacks sights (no problem, you're mounting optic), dust cover (are you going to be fighting in the desert or swamp?) and shell deflector (are you left handed?)

I'd buy the sportical and spend the extra 200 on optics, mags, ammo, range fees, something for your wife to keep her from nagging you about buying another gun........

Another one to consider is the S&W M&P 15. You can get it for between $750 and $800. And they have a rebate until the end of Dec where you get 5 free pmags the type with the window. CDNN has them for $799.00. Also I have seen them on Gunbroker in the mid $700s. Great rifle and free mags.

I like the Stag ARs, I have a model 1L. For the money I would buy the M&P 15. Its alot more rifle than the DPMS. Look up the specs and you will see the difference.
